5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the little princess in your home
My daughter wanted this so badly. We purchased it, through Amazon, for her 4th birthday. She absolutely loves it! I give it 5 stars because my daughter, and all the little girls that come over, love this. As a parent, I can see the annoying things that would make me rate it a bit lower. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not Ariels REAL voice
My 4 year old was dying to have this for Christmas. Her grandfather got it for her and she was estatic! She loves the toy but was very disappointed when she realized it is not Ariel's voice. Its got the Disney name all over it so you would think they would've taken the time to at least find somebody who's voice resembles Ariel! Other than that, she likes it, although...

My daughter wanted this so badly. We purchased it, through Amazon, for her 4th birthday. She absolutely loves it! I give it 5 stars because my daughter, and all the little girls that come over, love this. As a parent, I can see the annoying things that would make me rate it a bit lower. Assembling this thing was a giant pain in the rear, not terribly difficult but just annoying. All the accessories seem to get misplaced which makes one of the modes basically worthless, and you must....speak....very....clearly....in order to have the vanity answer you. Kinda tough for a little girl to do.
With all these things considered I would still purchase it again. My daughter could care less about all the minor annoyances, she just loves it! I guess that is what matters in this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves This!, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Disney Princess Ariel Little Mermaid Magical Talking Salon & Vanity (Toy)
This was number one on a short list of Christmas gifts my daughter produced for Santa. She loves it and plays with it everyday. The construction is okay, the chair is a little flimsy. The interactive feature is cool but if there is a lot of background noise Ariel doesn't always hear you correctly.
Overall it was a big hit with my kid!

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 year old daughter had to have it!, December 26, 2006
This review is from: Disney Princess Ariel Little Mermaid Magical Talking Salon & Vanity (Toy)
our 4 year old daughter had to have this for christmas. so we bought it. it was very easy to put together. the instructions were very clear. it only took me about 30 minutes or less to put together. most of the time was spent looking for a piece that i dropped and it had rolled away. we also bought the accessory set. which adds even more fun to the vanity. my daughter loves to style her hair and everybody else's who walks into our house. she loves to make ariel appear in the mirrow. the only downside that i see, they should have used ariels voice from "the little mermaid". i do think my daughter was looking forward to that, but instead we got a different voice all together.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT, December 29, 2006
This review is from: Disney Princess Ariel Little Mermaid Magical Talking Salon & Vanity (Toy)
My two daughters (two and four) got this for Christmas from "Santa", after seeing this, they no longer had any interest in any other gift. They love it and spend hours on in fixing each others hair.

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply doesn't work, December 26, 2010

I'll keep it short and sweet. Right out of the box, the wiring harness was not connected. The clip on the wires was not attached so we couldn't connect the mirror wires to the table wires. We tried to manually wire it and it still didn't work. It's an expensive piece of junk. I would recommend buying a plain vanity without useless electronics.

Its got the Disney name all over it so you would think they would've taken the time to at least find somebody who's voice resembles Ariel! Other than that, she likes it, although she has a hard time getting it to understand her even though she speaks better than most adults! It can be quite annoying to adults because it says the same things over and over and over!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy!, December 27, 2006
This review is from: Disney Princess Ariel Little Mermaid Magical Talking Salon & Vanity (Toy)
My 5 year old daughter spends hours enoying this interactive vanity. When she has playdates, this salon is a real hit because it entertains them for the entire time they are here. It is also wonderful for vocabulary, Ariel names all objects and encourages children what to do with each. We really love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun interactive Vanity mirror/table but not for over $50, December 27, 2011

Bought this item from WalMart before Christmas for 40 dollars and it was well worth it. Now that the Christmas sales have gone all of the retailers (and Amazon affiliates) have jacked the prices to nearly 100 dollars. And of course WalMart is now out of stock...

Play value:
Very good if you have a young 3yo fan of Ariel... the seat is kind of small and unstable but my daughter uses her folding princess chair sometimes instead. The front drawer is a little flimsy but holds some light duty items like play makeup. The table talks to you when you remove a tool (scissors, curling iron, etc) from the table holder or when you talk loudly to the playset. Ariel's image shows up through the mirror from time to time and is nothing really more than a paper picture that is back-lit by a lightbulb through the one-way mirror. Still, if you have a little princess of your own (2 to 4yo of age) who likes play makeup and jewelry then this device will work as her own little vanity. I can't see this working for anyone over 5yoa though due to its size.

Construction:
Get yourself a long thin Phillips screwdriver as the legs attach with a set of small machine screws in an inconvenient location (the legs start to bulge out above the screw holes). Using a regular sized screwdriver will require some downward force on your part to keep the screws straight. battery life is not very good, but as the device listens for your voice and activates whenever a tool is used - that means this vanity table is always ACTIVE.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy for a little girl, March 4, 2011
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This toy is great for a little girl, my daughter is 3 and she loves it! She will play with it for hours. The one thing I was slightly unhappy with was that there are further accessories (Blow dryer, an actual comb this comes with a fork instead of a comb keeping with the ariel theme) that you can purchase with this toy seperately and this was never mentioned in the item description it would have been nice to know before we got it in the mail. Also I bought this item from aaagoodbuy and it arrived very banged up and once we took it out to put it together it was broken in several different locations. My husband is very handy and was able to make the toy useable for our daughter as we didn't have the time to return it but if you don't want the hassle of having to return a broken toy or spend $156 on a toy to have it show up broken I would avoid that seller.

This has been such a fun toy for myself and my children. They do each other's hair, and they even do my hair, which is a lot fun. It encourages pretend play, and has held up well. We've owned it for 9 months now.
