A big hit!,

This review is from: Disney Princess Music Magic - Play Along Violin (Toy)
We purchased this toy for my 3 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it-it is one of her favorite birthday presents. All her little friends loved it too. It is a very sturdy product-my only complaint would be that Cinderella's arm has come off a few times, however it snaps easily back on. The songs are very nice and it has a volume control, which is handy. I think this is a great product to use to introduce the violin to young girls.

Good enough, but not the best,

My five year old only wanted a violin for Christmas. I couldn't find any children's violin's anywhere so when I found this one I ordered it immediately. Her response to opening it on Christmas morning was "This isn't a real violin!" And it's not. It's just a toy shaped like a violin that play music when you press a button. Great for smaller children I suppose, but it was not a hit with my daughter in the least.

I bought this for my daughter who is 2 1/2. She's probably a little young for it, but the reason I got it for her is because she seems very interested in the violin. I have an older daughter, age 10, who plays the violin and when she plays, my younger daughter pretends playing along with an "air violin". Since she got this pretty pink violin, she holds it up under her chin and pretends to play that way. She loves the princess music and is very intent on what she is doing. It is too adorable. I was afraid that the bow would become a weapon, but she hasn't steered that way at all. I think she respects the instrument. In all honesty, the violin is probably heavier than a real violin and the little Cinderella has fallen off. I have attached it back easily enough. I'm sure when my daughter is just a bit older we may start "real" violin lessons, but for now this is perfect.

Cute, but not very high quality,

My daughter loves this simply because it has Princesses on it, and it's a violin. However, the sound quality is not great, and Cinderella's arm fell off within a day or two of opening it. Also, about 1/2 the time, it doesn't play automatically when she runs the bow across the heart. She is 4 and loves it despite it's shortfalls from a parents perspective.

My girl wanted a toy violin. This fit the bill just "okay". After just a few times of play, the Cinderella's poorly constructed arm literally fell off. The rest of the function is okay. You can't really "play" the violin, they just pretend to play while music plays from pushing different buttons. They still play with it, though.

This is a very cute pink violin. However, I thought it actually had strings and would play like a toy violin. I didn't realize it has push buttons to press so electronic music plays.

I bought this item as a Christmas gift for my three year old goddaughter. She absolutely loves it!! I was advised that she's very into the Disney Priness line and now I'm sure she's a true Disney Princess musician. I'm a frequent Amazon shopper and will continue to do so...

This is an excellent product as an introduction to instrumental music. The kids can "play" along with the music programmed in the violin, or use the buttons on the finger board in any variation of a major scale. The bowing action along with the finger buttons are a great "reality" of playing the violin. Our daughter loves to pretend to play orchestral instruments along with music and dance. And this was a perfect toy for her so that she could actually make her own music or "play" along with the orchestra. The provided song book was quite limited in simple melodies. The toy is durable and forgiving. The little princess icon seemed to be the only fragile part of the toy. It's not easily breakable and much more durable than a real violin! Seeing our daughter wanting to play more music on her own, we decided to rent a violin and started her on lessons. As a toy, this is great for the creative child and it also was a great introduction to playing a real violin! Otherwise we would have never known.

Not a winner,

My daughter(then 5) really wanted a violin for Christmas. We already had the FirstAct accordian which she loved. This, however, she did not. I can't even make music using the stick. The heart on the front is a button you push down to make the music "beat of a prerecorded song" It is impossible to make the song sound good even when using your hand. The stick is practically useless (except as as weapon.) The kids usually just had it play on its own. Everyone got sick of the three recorded songs very quickly. The little princess on the front moves along with the music (for the first day) She then fell off and broke. The kids played with it for a few days, but it has been over a year and no one has asked to play with it...even when I take it out and display it. A Big Waste of Money!
