3.0 out of 5 stars I was expecting more May 9, 2013
By Sarah

So basically I bought this game thinking that it would be as good or better then Disney Princess' Enchanted Journey... I was disappointed with the lack of plot and creativity in the game. As an older player I found the game play easy to the point it was boring.... I did enjoy getting to go into the many worlds and the artwork was stunning, but really I was expecting more. Was it fun? Yes. Was the hub more enjoyable? Yes. Did I think it was as good as Enchanted Journey? No. If you're looking for easy game play and a shallow plot then this game is okay, but if you're looking for something more detailed it's not here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Action Game For Girls! October 15, 2012
By Tom254

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
No shooting or blood and guts that boys seem to like. Rather it is like Harry Potter game. It has the various Princess lands that can be explored to accomplish certain tasks to win points...that can be used to unlock certain dresses, jewelry, etc to outfit the ladies. It requires some problem solving skills to navigate the lands and has the magic twirls, jumps, etc. Requres longer train of thought to solve a situation, than say Angry Birds or Disney Splash apps.

My soon to be 6 yr old granddaughter loves this game. She loves all things to do with the Princesses anyway. I think the game is aimed more at 7-8 yr olds if played alone. Requires some reading and the navigation of the game mechanics generally aren't intuitive. But my granddaughter does well if I get her into the game and am available to answer some questions every once in awhile...for example how to get out of one Princess land to go to another (not obvious).

I didn't rate it as 5 stars because things are not as intuitive as they should be. For example how to get to the various Portals (Princess lands). Help on screen is useless. You touch the big question mark and it says to go though the Portal. But does not tell you how to do that and if you press again it does not give more detailed help but just says the same thing. The use of the keys, arrows, spacebar, and mouse are not consistent through the various lands.

Game Hints: A couple things that I have learned through experimenting 1) to get to the portals go to the main room and go up to the Princess Pictures and hit the SPACEBAR to select 2) when in the princess land to go to another one or to get to quit menu press ESC key. 3) when starting the game for the second time, you need to select which saved area ie 4th area...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, but glitches January 5, 2013
Platform for Display:PC/Mac|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This was my 6 1/2 year old daughter's first video game and she absolutely LOVED it! She knows the basics about the Macintosh computer but had never used a keyboard before to navigate around a video game landscape. She was able to pick it up very easily. Game play is well guided and the difficulty is perfect for 6 year old's. It is true that, in the beginning she needed an occasional input from an adult, but 99% of the game she played by herself. She would play it for hours on end if we didn't limit it somwewhat. Start-to-finish, there is about 8 hours of gaming involved. But even after completing the game, she has no problem starting over and doing it all again.

The only issue with the game that keeps it from getting five stars is that it has a couple of very annoying glitches. I have a strong suspicion that it is unique to the Macintosh platform. The first is, the game autosaves in "slots" (slot 1, slot 2, etc). When we re-start the game there is an error message stating "The data file is corrupt" and it gives you the option to continue, which starts the game over from the beginning, or Delete which, of course, deletes the file. Unfortunately my daughter had no idea what she was doing when this came up and she clicked delete on a file she had been working on for about 7 hours. I have found that when this comes up, if you eject the disk from the computer, hit "continue" or "back", close out of the game, then reinsert the disk and restart the game, then your file is still there and will load fine. Still, very annoying.

The second glitch is, the princess has to feed and nurture her flowers in the garden. When she has to sing to her flowers, a screen comes up that uses the arrow keys to play notes. This does not work.

I bought this for my grand daughter. She liked it. She liked it because Rapunzel was in it. A lot of games don't have Rapunzel.

I had also downloaded the Enchanted Journey Game and this is similar to it except the navigation is different and you can use the mouse as well.

There is detailed instruction as the game goes along and lets your child know where to go and what to do at each step. You can control the audio, navigation, and visuals as well I think.

Enchanted Journey and this game both have the princess collecting gems, but in this one you can purchase accessories like gowns and jewels or furniture for her room. The customization of the avatar is detailed as well.

The Enchanted Journey is a nice beginner level game and this one is the next level up. The background graphics are great but the characters are a little boxy, it doesn't bother us though.

We love that you can swim with Ariel and get a tail to do it. The interaction with the characters is about the same as on Enchanted Journey. In that game you have to turn the boggs back to butterflies and in this game you change imps into sprites. So you're not "hurting" them you're helping them actually.

The avatar also can interact with the surroundings more and use spin magic to bump gems out of objects and such.

It appears you also have to collect crystals to open treasure chests in different worlds.

It's a great game and I recommend it as well as Enchanted Journey, but play Enchanted Journey first or it will feel a little less advanced to you.

My girl is 3.5 years old and has the hang of both games and there are a few places she gets a little confused, but she is really navigating it well and enjoying it. Do a search around for best price.
