My daughters love their new bathtub doll. She doesn't do much so you have to be creative.

My 3 year old just rec'd this as a birthday gift. She's a HUGE fan of Princess Ariel (the only Disney princess we've really allowed her access), so she was more than thrilled to receive this. She plays with it every night in the bath, so it has been a hit that way. But, neither the stripe in her hair, nor her outfit change color. We've tried different temps of water and nothing seems to work. So, I'm guessing, based on the other more positive reviews, that we just have a dud, but just beware that your doll might be one of those duds too. I'm going to contact Mattel and see if they'll offer us an exchange. Wish me luck!

My daughter is a big Ariel fan so this was a no brainer for her birthday. The doll has a little skirt that has been a bit of a pain but still cute. Her hair changes color in the bath but for a 3 year old the fun thing is to dunk her under the running water and watch her swim in the "waterfall". She is a good quality doll with a nicely painted face. The little Flounder squirter is really cute. I would say this is a great buy for the Ariel fan since it's such a good price and very well made.

I purchased this toy for my 6 year old daughter. She loves it and I have no major complaints about it. I was expecting Ariel's "flipper" to be removable and have legs beneath, but such is not the case. She pivots at the at the waist, but the flipper is just a solid piece of plastic with a piece of fabric at the end for the wide fins. I think my daughter would have enjoyed changed Ariel from a person to a mermaid and back. The color changing characteristics are a novelty at first and they work alright, but the real fun just pretending.

My girls love Ariel, and this has been a lot of fun for them. The price point was great - not the super 'Disney premium' placed on so many other of their items.

My two-year-old daughter got this doll for Christmas, and we've had no problems with it. It changes color fine. I'd recommend this over the Barbie mermaid doll, which seems to experience more problems with color changing.

If you have a little girl on your list this is what I would suggest for you to buy for her. She's beautiful and all little girls are crazy about her.

My little girls love Arial and this one is perfect - she works well in the tub and around the house. The girls are fascinated with how her lower half changes color in the water or as you hold her in your hand. She is quite the popular toy!

My daughter (4 years) likes it because it's a princess. The color doesn't change much/well for us. Also, why would they design a color changing bath toy that only changes color in cold water?? Baths are WARM!! So, it's disappointing. Also, the crown came off (won't stay on).

I just reviewed the Belle version of this toy, and I basically have the same complaints about this product. After being disappointed with the fact that the color change aspect of this toy didn't work so wonderfully with Belle, my wife and I decided to try the Ariel version, since my daughter had been asking for an Ariel doll and we thought that maybe the Belle we had purchased was defective. Alas, the same issues abounded with this product. Nothing the box said would happen actually did, and I tried everything to get her colors to change. Ironically, just like with Belle, the next morning I walked into the bathroom to see that Ariel had in fact changed colors, but to odd effect. Instead of any solid color change, there were blotches all over her tail that made her look diseased. No matter what I did (cold water, warm water, smeared watered, splashed water; I even squirted her with Flounder) her color never came the way it was supposed to. In fact, the only color came when she had completely dried out. It just doesn't work right; but as a Barbie, the doll is still fun. As far as the doll itself, the crown is really the only issue. It is easily detached and nearly impossible to get back on without that pesky elastic. I actually just threw the crown away, which upset my daughter but in the end she forgot about it; thankfully.
