"Hello Princess Shoppers!"-Wonderful Princess Fun!!,

This review is from: Disney Princess Talking Cash Register (Toy)
I couldn't disagree more with several other reviews of this toy. I bought this toy for my little girl a week ago and she hasn't stopped playing with it since! It is durable, compact, sturdy, and has lots of fun, hard plastic pretend accessories for her to play with: a lipstick, an eye shadow compact, a bottle of perfume, a bottle of lotion, a tube of hand cream, three paper boxes of tissues, bath beads and powder, and a plastic credit card to swipe and pay for it all.
That is of course unless she prefers to pay with cash, which is included as well. There are two sets of three coins which are fused together so they don't get lost and four paper bills in several denominations. The paper is thin, I agree, but if you pull it off slowly it doesn't tear. We haven't had any trouble with the money, the cash drawer, or the calculator functions. My daughter loves that the register speaks to you,("Hello Princess Shoppers!"), when you turn it on and off and when you are choosing the departments to buy from and the items to scan. My daughter has only just turned four and the fun of this toy is in the pretending and scanning of the items. Items can be scanned either with a handheld scanner or a scanner bed attached to the register. Please note, the scanner just makes a sound it does not actually put a price into the register. That is for her to do. If you are looking for something more sophisticated then this is not the cash register for you. However, for a great role-playing and pretend toy this is wonderful. My daughter doesn't care if the items total up correctly. She has great fun just pushing all the buttons and feeling "grown-up." She also loves being able to swipe the credit card to pay for her purchases. We have enjoyed this toy so much so that we bought it for a friend's little girl who was turning four-years-old. It was the hit of the birthday party. All the little girls wanted to play with this toy!

Not a whole lot of fun,

My daughter got this for her 4th birthday. She has not played with it at all since the day she got it. It comes with extra items that you can "buy" but most are just empty cardboard boxes. She does like the fake makeup though. The cash register is very realistic, which means it gives you a beeping error message if you don't press the keys in the right order. Overall I would say it is not very fun, and I wish I would have gotten her something else!

I gave this register its rating based on the specified age group which is definitley not apropriate. My bright, but easily frustated, four year old daughter received this as a gift and does not understand why it won't talk past the greeting and continues to beep ERROR at her. This toy acts as a real register, and unless your child can read, add and subtract, don't buy it. ie: FIRST you enter amount of item such as $17.00, THEN, choose cash or credit(ability to read required), if cash is chosen THEN enter amount equal or greater than $17.00,(if a lesser amount is chosen... ERROR),THEN press enter...this is way too big of concepts for a four, five, six, maybe even seven year old!
This would be a great parent child learning toy for the older child ready to learn such concepts, and I encourage parents with children in that age group to buy this toy. I'll put it away until my child is older, and I look forward to using it when she's in school learning these things. As for those having trouble with drawer not opening...I did too, but my husband found a plate on the bottom of the register that read "remove before using". Now it works fine though it's a bit flimsey.
