Beautiful, encouraging, and nostalgic,

This review is from: Disney Princess Tea Party (Jewl) (Audio CD)
After getting somewhat . . . okay, VERY annoyed with Disney using only recycled footage and rereleasing old songs for their albums, I was pleased to learn that they had actually created a new album with all the original Princess voices, except of course Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora. Even though the singers they got to impersonate these three don't sound quite like them, they still have lovely voices.
After reading the song titles, you'd expect this CD to sound extremely childish and cheesy, but instead the songs are sung beautifully and have a very Broadway style to them, and many sound like they could have easily fit into the Princess movies, or at least the melodies and they way they're sung. Who'd expect anything less from these extremely talented singers, such as Jodi Benson, Lea Salonga, Judy Kuhn, and Susan Egan? The lyrics are somewhat cheesy, but they're not nearly as bad as they sound, and some of the songs have gorgeous lyrics that aren't cheesy at all, such as "Waiting for My Prince" and "These Moments We Share," which are some of my favorites. I also love "The Princess Dance" because the tempo changes each time a different princess sings, which makes it a very fun song because as soon as you get tired of one style, it shifts to another. Personally, I think this album is beautiful for any age group because of how lovely the songs are sung and how nostalgic they are of the old Broadway style songs in traditionally animated Disney movies, but if you are planning on buying it for children, I think it would be very good for them as well because the songs are extremely encouraging and complimentary, referring to the listener as a beautiful princess, etc. Ariel's song, "Manners and Etiquette," encourages children to be polite and considerate, "The Princess Dance" would be a lot of fun for children to dance to, and Jasmine's "Musical Chairs," although it's the most irrelevant song on the CD, teaches children about this popular game, which could easily be played to this song. Also, Ariel's "Happy Birthday, Princess!" would be perfect for a birthday party. This is a very fun CD overall, the songs are all sung beautifully, the instrumentals are done perfectly, and children would adore it. The only thing I didn't like was the cover because I thought it should feature the princesses more, so I designed my own cover for it.

I bought this for my princess-obsessed daughters when it was first released and now, over a year later, it is still a staple in our car's CD player. They listen to this album over and over again, happily singing along and never seeming to tire of it. I could chalk this up to it being the Princesses capturing the hearts of my little girls, but these are very musically savvy preschoolers who can be very picky about what they sing and dance to. I think this is a favorite because it's a good CD, Princesses or not. All the songs on the album are new originals based on the principals of being a good princess. Except for Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora all the songs are sung by the original Princess vocalists (Jodi Benson, Lea Salonga and Paige O'Hara). All the vocals are beautifully sung. The music is reminiscent of Broadway musicals or Disney music soundtracks. It's upbeat and catchy, even infectious. After hundreds of listens I still find myself singing along. And really, as parents, aren't we just looking for something our kids love that we can enjoy as well? The album's standouts are Belle's bouncy "The Perfect Princess Tea," Cinderella's "Every Girl Can Be A Princess" (complemented by mouse harmonies), Ariel's calypso meets 60's girl singer "Happy Birthday Princess", and "If You Can Dream" a melodic poppy ballad sung by all the princesses.

I don't know why everyone bought this album only to his or her young daughter who were only 5 or 6 years old or younger. I think if you're a true Disney Princess fan, your age can't keep you away from this album! You know, I'm a teenager, a university freshman, I bought this album for myself and enjoyed it very much!
According to this lyrics of these songs, I know that these songs were teaching little girls how to be a princess. For example, "Manners and Etiquettes" taught girls how to eat gracefully, "The Princess Dances" taught some different dances to tell girls how to dance beautifully, "Cups and Saucers" taught girls that how to have tea in a Chinese way. I think we teenagers can learn these too. But one of the reason I bought this album was very important, my favourite lady vocals sang songs of this album. I love the feeling that Jodi Benson's, Lea Salonga's and Paige O'Hara's voices delighting my ears. The song "If you can Dream" was one of my favourites. In the lyrics, girls can learn how to dream and how to make their dreams come true. Listening to this song, I know I should fight for my dreams and never give up until my dreams all come true! And, as a Chinese university student, I think listening to English songs can improve my English. So in my opinion, this album is not only for little kids but also for teenagers and all the people who love Disney Princess. I think this album is fit for little girls and me at least!
