This review is from: Disney Shrek 2 Talking Puss In Boots (Toy)
As has been mentioned frequently, Puss n Boots was the best thing to happen to Shrek 2. And f you were like me, you knew you'd just have to have a stuffed replicat of the adorable kitty for your very own. In the Amazon search results ("Shrek 2" +Puss) Donkey's photo appears first and just what you would expect: a furry and cuddly faithful representation of the other favorite character. Then came "Shrek Basic Talking Plush Puss n Boots" but with "No Image Available." As Hasbro has is a smart and reputable company, it made sense to me that they would create a Puss with the same equvalent care that they made Donkey. My Puss arrived today. I was wrong. Very wrong. Believe it or not, Harbro choose NOT TO HAVE PUSS MADE WITH FUR. The Puss figure is flat colored stripes silkscreened on some plain tan cloth. Where Donkey's body is flexible, Puss is frozen in an what would have been one of his dashing poses, but instead is akward, artificial and unmovable. Those grand sweeping gestures that Puss made that were so adorable? Forget them. His felt hat is SEWN AS PART OF HIS HEAD. His boots are SEWN AS PART OF HIS LEGS. These are not accessories, they're an integral part of his body. The belt is SEWN to his body and cannot be moved or adjusted one bit. (HIs sword is tacked onto his hand- you can cut it loose- but it is made of.. limp felt! ) He has a spindly little worm of a tail. The eyes might work if they were surrounded by fur, but they are spaced way too far apart and are too large for this body. What works? The "talking" part seems OK. An embroidered dingbat on the clasp of his cape. That's about it. If it was not for the fact that I fell in love with Puss the moment I saw the trailer, I wouldn't care. Puss is a heroic character that SO DESERVED an elegant treatment. Yes, I bought him despite lack of photo- because it was listed as being PLUSH. (To me, that means FURRY or at least cuddly, so how could I go wrong?) The online Dictionary defines plush: "A fabric of silk, rayon, cotton, or other material, having a thick deep pile." and "1. Made of or covered with plush." or "2. Luxurious." This Puss is not PLUSH, and the imposter is going back in the box to Amazon. What would you have expected? su

I really love Puss in Boots and I can understand if it were just a demented version of him--but it looks nothing like him. I got him for my birthday--which is today actually! Anyway, he doesn't look anything like Puss, but the worst part is the voice--NOT EVEN kinda close to Antonio Banderas--I mean would it have been that hard to get someone to sound like him??? It sounds so awful. I gave it 5 stars for fun, because it's fun to laugh at. How can you make it not look like him? That has to be difficult.good lord these people, who hires them to design kids' toys? crying shame

I'm 17 and a little embarassed to say I own one of these! Although mine seems different to the ones described on here. It only says 5 phrases and sounds identical to Antonio Banderas! It's also not quite as ugly as the one on here! So I suggest ordering it from the UK if you're after a decent sound-a-like!

I was very disappointed. It is very small, the quality of the fabric is very low. It wasn't even good for display, as a toy is; don't even think about it

I had to have this toy but I wish it could have had real-er fur. It goes everywhere with me because I love it so much.I have to watch out for its sword though because it is fragile. If you are a realy big fan of puss , it is a must have. It says about 15 different things and it looks like puss , but it's fur is very cheap quality ,it has to be very well taken care of . I recomend this toy ,I love mine a lot !

After seeing Shrek 2 in theaters several weeks ago, I knew I wanted the talking Puss In Boots plush that I kept seeing in local retail stores! And to be honest, I wasn't disappointed! While some people prefer real fur on their stuffed animals, I really think the non-fur approach worked out very well! The craftsmanship on this plush is phenominal! Which kinda surprised me since the craftsmanship on almost anything nowadays is subpar. Puss says fifteen different things from the movies that make you laugh and remember that specific scene from the film! All in all, this Puss in Boots is really not an educational toy, but in the end, it truely is an adorable and enjoyable plush that you will cherish for many years to come! |
