By royal decree in the summer of 2003, Disney released "Princess Premiere" pins at "Royal Release" celebrations for several of the Disney Princesses. The Princess Swirl Series is one of the "Princess Premiere" pin editions so celebrated. There are seven unique oval, frame-style pins in this series. Each pin features one Princess, centered on a colorful swirled background. The oval edge is outlined or framed in gold. Pins in the series include Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Jasmine (Aladdin), Snow White, Ariel (Little Mermaid) and Tinker Bell (Peter Pan). Each pin measures approximately 1 ½ inches in length and 1 ¼ inches in width. This pin features Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). It is a three-quarter length standing portrait of her. She appears with golden blonde hair with a gold tiara and necklace, wearing a purple gown trimmed with a white collar, and pink sleeves and waistband. The words "Sleeping Beauty" are printed in gold edged white letters and are centered within a purplish blue ribbon-shaped banner that is draped horizontally across the lower portrait and frame. All painted areas are edged in gold. The background is violet-red with pink swirls. The pin is made of painted hard enamel on base metal, and is mounted on the official Disney Mickey Mouse Ears backing display which is black velveteen material on a black plastic card. The front of the display card has the "Walt Disney World" logo at the top left, in silver print. The pin itself is attached to the backing display card with a black rubber Mickey Mouse ear clutch, which is also used to wear the pin if desired. The back of the pin reads "Official Pin Trading 2003" inside the Mickey Mouse Head Logo and "(c) Disney". Original packaging and price sticker.
