My daughter, 8, received this player for Christmas. Fortunately, she also received a card you insert into the device with songs to play on it, since it doesn't come preloaded as you might expect from a simple Disney product. Her model does hold 1Gb worth of songs internally. It is not that well constructed, so I wonder how long it will last. She is more than happy with it, though, and hasn't had problems. Inserting a Disney pre-loaded sound card works well. The instructions were not that intuitive, however, about how to download music to it. Here is what worked for us. We installed the software on our PC and when the Disney Mix Central icon is clicked it you will see the Disney player rather than your Windows Media Player. It does this through a plug-in, so Windows Media Player is still operating, you just don't see it. Clicking one of the icons in the Disney player will revert back to the Windows Player. The instructions said you need Windows Media Player 11; we had v10, so upgrading it to v11 helped tremendously. You also need to install a security patch to v11, but the Player walks you through it and it's a 1-click upgrade. We purchased songs on the Disney Mix site and downloaded them successfully to the player using the Windows Player sync function. So, if you are purchasing it for a child and buying a preloaded card, it works fine; if you want to download music to it, you may need someone who is familiar with purchasing music online to make it easy. For the price, it's about what you might expect. I figure you pay 1/3rd the price for the Disney brand, so compare a lesser price to other non-name brand models for a fair comparison.

Absolute junk! Bought for my 6-year old daughter for Christmas, and even though this was inexpensive, it totally wasn't worth the few dollars I paid for it.

First of all... the earbuds are HUGE, they are almost too big for MY ears, let alone a child's.

Next, this device is extremely cheaply made - very flimsy. The on/off switch sticks and the play button wouldn't work until I pushed it several times.

Finally, there's some indeterminate piece of plastic in the mix stick loading area that will just not come out. It was there when we opened the box and I have no clue how to remove it.

Two thumbs WAY down. Quite possibly the most disappointing purchase I made this year. I bought a mix stick max plus for my son - Pirates of the Caribbean - this device is miles ahead of the junk I'm reviewing here.

I experienced the same problems with the players as others have. I bought the Disney Mix Stick for my daughter for Christmas and the battery doesn't appear to hold a charge and the music player doesn't play. They seem to be very cheaply made, but what can you expect for under $10.

See my review for the same one in Purple. I came across it one day for $9.99, and bought it figuring it was junk. It is a VERY GOOD (cheap) MP3 player.

PLAYS ALL MP3'S - JUST LIKE THE ADULT KIND.

Don't mess with the software, but use the SD card, and you can put all you MP3 files on the SD card via drag and drop in Windows Explorer (DON'T! USE MICROSOFT SYNC)and for $11, you have a brand new, great battery life, MP3 player.

CON: slow to start up if a lot of MP3's on SD card.

CON: color/appearance - if that bother's you (but it's so small, it is not even noticeable by others.

CON: TERRIBLE if no PLAY LIST ability.

It took me forever to figure out how to download songs onto the device. I finally found the solution on their website [...]. Here are the steps: Plug the Mix Stick into an available USB port on your computer. Once the computer finishes loading the drivers for the Mix Stick, you can open the My Computer icon (or Computer in the Start Menu if you have Vista ) and see the Disney Mix Stick icon or the Removable Disk icon. You can then drag and drop your songs into the Mix Stick or use the Sync feature in Windows Media Player to sync your existing tracks from Windows Media Player to the Mix Stick. Be sure to properly disconnect the Mix Stick from your computer.
Hope this helps someone with an anxious girl or boy who is having trouble getting it started just like we were.

My little sister has had two of these disney mix sticks and both of them were pieces of junk. With the first one, right out of the box the play button did not work, which made it impossible to listen to. The second one she had for about two weeks and the volume control button stuck and stopped working.

i purchased this for my 6yr old daughter for christmas, it is pretty easy to use & has proved to be very durable. Overall I would say this is a good quality product for the low price.

This product is NOT able to be used with Windows 7 and that's what I'm using... I purchased an entire cd from disney's site, for my 5 year old niece, paid $9.99 for it and am not able to even use the songs. They will NOT download to the MP3 player... That was extremely annoying, not to mention that I attempted to call the company all day long... literally from 9 in the morning til' 5 pm that night! I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE! Not even if it's only $10- $15 in price.

This item was great, my daughter loves it, on the parents side tho I was really thinking that the screen part was were u could view the song tracks or numbers, and there is no way of seeing what is playing. But my daughter was happy with this so so are we.

This is the 2nd Disney Mix Stick I have bought for my daughter. The 1st one I bought had to be sent back to the manufacturer because the volume stopped working. So, I thought that was a fluke. I bought the 2nd one and within 3 weeks, it completely stopped working. These things are nothing but junk. STAY AWAY!
