4.0 out of 5 stars It grows on you
At first, I was disappointed with these new versions of classic Disney songs, but the more I've listened to it, the more I've come to enjoy it. Even the destruction of the beautiful love ballad Beauty and the Beast can be sung with despite the faster pace. Though I'm not an Aaron Carter fanatic, I just can't wait to be king is pretty similar to Elton John's pop version...

When I got this album, it was not what I expected. Disneymania 2

At first, I was disappointed with these new versions of classic Disney songs, but the more I've listened to it, the more I've come to enjoy it. Even the destruction of the beautiful love ballad Beauty and the Beast can be sung with despite the faster pace. Though I'm not an Aaron Carter fanatic, I just can't wait to be king is pretty similar to Elton John's pop version and still has that "oldies sound" that made me love the original version so much. Hilary Duff's Tiki Room is my favorite on the disc. All in all, this isn't a bad set of songs. For the most part, the artists have stuck to the original melodies while at the same time adding their own styles to the mix. Some tunes will grind on the ears of true Disney music enthusiasts, but I don't regret buying the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST IDEA ANYONE'S EVER HAD!!, June 17, 2003

This review is from: Disneymania (Audio CD)
I'm gonna ignore the fact that we know this was another gimmick for Disney to suck up our money. Fine, so be it! This album is worth every penny I paid! :) Combining Classic Disney songs with hot artists was pure genious.

SOMEDAY MY PRINCE WILL COME (Anastacia)--0/5 Definitely my least favorite song on the album. A terrible choice to start with. She butchered a beautiful classic song. The melody is barely even recognizeable!
UNDER THE SEA (A*Teens)--5/5 The A-Teens rock, and this song rocks: you put them together, and you get an AWESOME song! I could listen to this one over and over!
YOU'LL BE IN MY HEART (Usher)--3/5 This is okay. Usher has a great voice, but this song is just not the same without Phil Collins singing it...not even close.
WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR (N'Sync)--5/5 Absolutely beautiful! N'Sync shows off their vocal harmony prowess and turns a Disney anthem into gorgeous a capella.
COLORS OF THE WIND (Ashanti & Lil' Sis Shi Shi)--3/5 If any voices were supposed to sing this song, Ashanti and Lil' Sis were the ones. It's one of my less favorite songs, but done beautifully anyway.
I WAN'NA BE LIKE YOU (Smash Mouth)--5/5 In top competition for the best song on the album. This song has never sounded so funky and fun--definitely a SWEET track!
PART OF YOUR WORLD (Jessica Simpson)--4/5 Jessica has an amazing voice, but it's a little too grown-up for this song. Still, she blows the competition out of the water!
I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO BE KING (Aaron Carter)--4/5 I love Aaron, and I love this song. It somewhat lacks the fun & punch of the movie version, but it's fun to listen to.
CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT (S Club)--3/5 I'm somehow missing the "love" in this song. It's very pretty, but I don't think S Club was made for such a mellow song. Their voices are king of annoying unless they're doing a pop/dance song.
HAKUNA MATATA (Baha Men)--2/5 My little sister loves this song, but personally I find it irritating. All of the remakes of Lion King songs leave something to be desired. It's such a powerful movie, and somehow the power is lost in these remakes.
THE TIKI, TIKI, TIKI ROOM (Hilary Duff)--5/5 Without a doubt, the BEST SONG on the album!! This is the ultimate feel-good song. Hilary's voice is perfect for the melody, and yes, it WILL get stuck in your head all day! Haha. :)
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Jump 5)--5/5 Another top competitor, because Jump 5 is REALLY talented! This song is absolutely beautiful, and I'm very proud. They took one of the best Disney songs of all time and actually did it justice!
KISS THE GIRL (No Secrets)--4/5 This song can get a bit annoying after a while, but it's a cute remake and the girls are talented.
RELFECTION (Christina Aguilera)--4/5 A great song, but EXTREMELY outdated. It's been overplayed, so it's pretty much a "skip" song on this CD.
CIRCLE OF LIFE (Ronan Keating)--5/5 Maybe I'm out of the loop because I've never heard of this guy, but he has a FABULOUS voice and does a great version of this song! :)

These are just my opinions of the songs on this album. I think it has a lot of great variety and is definitely worth buying. Who knows? You may have the exact opposite opinions of me. You'll never know unless you buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A must have for Pop Music or Disney Fans., September 18, 2002
This review is from: Disneymania (Audio CD)
Some people might be appalled at some of the versions on Disneymania, a collection opf some of Disneys greatest songs sung by some of todays biggest pop stars. Others will love it, especially pop music fans. Highlights include Anastacias funky new version of Someday My Prince Will Come, Nysnc's stunning new rendition of When You Wish Upon a Star, Ushers R&B version of You'll Be in My Heart, and Jessica Simpsons beautiful vocals on Part of Your World. Some songs I could do without, and I actually was a bit appalled how much certain songs were butchered. Like Jump 5's version of the classic Beauty and the Beast, now a euro pop dance song, and Ashanti's flat, uninspired singing on Colors of the Wind. Why they just did not put Vanessa Williams version is beyond me.Also included are Can You Feel the Love Tonight, sung rather sweetly by S Club, I Just Can't Wait to Be King by Aaron Carter, and Reflection by Christina Aguilera. Overall a great collection to have with some fun new versions of some of Disneys greatest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Fun CD!, October 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Disneymania (Audio CD)
I was a bit hestiant before buying the CD, I liked the songs, but would I like the different interpations of the songs?
So, I bought it and was rather impressed; I liked most of the songs on here! It's also quite fun to listen to, though I was disappointed by some.

1. Some Day My Prince Will Come- I like Anatacia's voice. First time I've heard her sing, nice! I don't listen to the song much though.-3/5

2. Under the Sea- Oh, this one's so catchy it's not even funny! I have it stuck in my head now! 5/5

3. You'll Be in my Heart- I like this version of the song. I like Phil Collin's original and Usher made it just a good!-5/5

4. When You Wish Upon a Star- I like how this is acappella. NSync's got great vocals. 4/5

5. Colors of the Wind- The singing's really dull, the chorus gets a little better, but they just both sound so monotonous. 1/5

6. I Wan'na Be Like You- I loved this song as a child and I like Smash Mouth's version! Very fun! 5/5

7. Part of Your World- Perfect Disney song for Jessica Simpson to sing. 5/5

8. I Just Can't Wait to Be King- Eh...I don't like Aaron Carter, so I don't usually listen to this..?/5

9. Can You Feel the Love Tonight?-I actually like this version of the song! They made a good version of Elton John's song though I do not listen to the track often. Heard this song in a demo and liked it immediately. 4.5/5

10. Hakuna Matata- Another very catchy song. Perfect for Baha Men. 5/5

11. The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Room- I don't like Hilary Duff. I really don't. I don't like her at all. But I DO like the beat to this song! So, regardless if you like the artist or not, it might be a good song! Hmm, maybe I should try that with "I Just Can't Wait To Be King"...-2.5/5

12. Beauty and the Beast- I didn't particurally liked the, I don't know how to put it, strong pop beats added to the song. I think it should've stayed slow..-2/5

13. Kiss the Girl- These girls sound pretty annoying at the beginning with the "Kiss the girl! MWA!" but they sound good together during the chorus.-3/5

14. Reflection- I've always liked this song. Powerful vocals from Christina 5/5

15. Circle of Life- Holy ta-lee-dos. This song is THE BEST on this whole CD! This song stands out above the rest. Ronan Keating (an Irish singer) has got an awesome voice and does a great version of this song! 10/5

Very fun for Disney Fans, particularly the younger generation of today, though some of the songs disappointed me. But nonetheless, there are great ones too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As The Other Disneymania Albums, Saved By A Few Good Tracks, July 18, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Disneymania (Audio CD)
When I got this album, it was not what I expected. Disneymania 2
and Disneymania 3 were much better albums. However, because of some excellent songs, it managed to hold three stars in my opinion and after a while, I became very disapointed. The only
highlights were "Under The Sea," "You'll Be In My Heart,"
"Hakuna Matata," "Beauty And The Beast," and "Reflection." Now,
here are my thoughts on this whole album:

1. Anastacia - Some Day My Prince Will Come (1/10)
Her voice is just plain awful, and it pains me to listen to this
one. This is pure garbage! Save your ears by not listening to this song.

2. A*TEENS - Under The Sea (10/10)
An excellent, faster, unJamaican version of the original. The A*TEENS did excellent with this song and I hope to hear them on
a future Disneymania album.

3. Usher - You'll Be In My Heart (10/10)
I liked Phil Collin's version, but this one was a little more r&b and that is somewhat better than pop/rock. Excellent remake
of one of my favorite songs. Again, I hope to hear Usher on a future Disneymania CD.

4. *NSYNC - When You Wish Upon A Star (6/10)
It's true when people say that a capella music is better when a
group sings it, however, this is just plain boring!

5. Ashanti and Lil Sis Shi Shi - Colors Of The Wind (8/10)
Usually, Disneymania versions are better than the originals, but this one wasn't as active as the original and I liked the movie version better. Shi Shi has no voice at all and doesn't deserve to sing with a much more talented older sister.

6. Smashmouth - I Wan'na Be Like You (7/10)
Steve (the lead singer) doesn't have much of a good voice, and this has to be a joke, right? Somewhat better than the original, but the movie version was better excluding the instrumental break before the 2nd berse (waste of time). Again,
save your ears!

7. Jessica Simpson - Part Of Your World (9/10)
So-so song...Ashlee would have done better with this.

8. Aaron Carter - I Just Can't Wait To Be King (8/10)
Okay, I guess. Though, I did think that Elton John's version and the movie version were way better than this one...that's combined.

9. S Club - Can You Feel The Love Tonight? (9/10)
Normally, I like slow songs, but this is slightly boring and perfect for when babies and little kids nap.

10. Baha Men - Hakuna Matata (10/10)
Amazing song! Need I say more?

11. Hilary Duff - The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room (1/10)
A terrible song by my favorite artist. Hope she never performs
this one live!

12. Jump5 - Beauty And The Beast (10/10)
An upbeat, more danceable version of the original with better vocals than Angela Lansbury. I hope they appear on Disneymania 4.

13. no secrets - Kiss The Girl (10/10)
Take those little Jamaican bits out, and you have a perfect song!

14. Christina Aguilera - Reflection (10/10)
This version was also from the movie "Mulan," this is better than the version in the beginning of the film.

15. Ronan Keating - Circle Of Life (5/10)
Not very good.

Thankfully, the other Disneymania albums are not as bad as this
one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing New take on Disney Songs, September 25, 2002
This review is from: Disneymania (Audio CD)
This is great for anyone who, like myself, has been a Disney lover since they were born. All my favourite Disney songs in new cover versions! Despite the fact that many of the artists are defintly not in my list of people to listen to (ex Aaron Carter, Nsync, Baha Men) its a great cd. The best songs include, Usher's amazing rendition of You'll Be In My Heart, Sclub's Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Smash Mouth's I Wanna Be Like You, Ronan Keating's Circle Of Life, and Anastacia's funky take on Someday My Prince Will Come. It's an awesome cd and a must have for all Disney-philes!

My wife and I were tired of listening to the same old kiddy toons from the Disney CD's. This CD provided a new hipper version of the music to enjoy on those long van rides. I highly reccommend it to anyone with children.

My 7 year old son received this CD for Christmas and absolutely loves it. The songs are all upbeat, updated versions of Disney songs, sung by current artists. Very representative of music on the Disney radio channel.

I originally purchased this CD for my daughter (age 31/2) who is a big fan of the Disney Channel. She loved all of the songs because they reminded her of her favorite Disney Movies. After listening to songs like "You'll be in my Heart" by Usher and "Under the Sea"...the album has become a family favorite. The music is clean and upbeat and can be enjoyed by Disney fans of all ages....Our family recommends this CD to any music lover.
