The movies seem to have taken over Broadway of late, so don't be surprised to see names like Warner and Disney where Shubert used to be. The most successful recent movie-to-stage conversion is Beauty and the Beast, which through all manner of special effects transfers the transformations made on the screen by animators' pens to the live stage. The production sports several more songs than the cartoon feature did, and the lyrics of all the ditties used onstage appear here, along with a running synopsis of spoken dialogue and action, a gallery of the characters, and an account of how the production was created. A great many superior production photos, several designers' and costumers' drawings, and a handful of frames from the film essentially overwhelm the text, so this is one jolly browse of a book. A GREAT book!,

This book was a real treat going through. Loaded with photographs, it tells the story as a script, shows the design of the characters, and then shows the special effects, sets, and other cool stuff. It's a great soveneir of the musical, and if you haven't it's a great book to read to experience the musical if you can't experience it on Broadway

This book is excellent. It is filled with gorgeous pictures from the Broadway musical. It also contains the complete lyrics and a story line of how the actual musical was produced. This is a definite for any musical theatre fan!
