Disney Dogs begins by highlighting dogs from the Walt Disney Animation Studios' history including early images of Goofy and Pluto from the nineteen-thirties and forties. Then it's on to all one hundred and one Dalmatians, the hound part of The Fox and the Hound, Oliver & Company, and Lady and the Tramp. There are also sidekick dogs who have found a place in our hearts including Bruno from Cinderella, Nana from Peter Pan, Toby from The Great Mouse Detective, Percy from Pocahontas, Little Brother from Mulan, and Max from The Little Mermaid. Disney Dogs also showcases dogs that are not really "traditional," such as Stitch from Lilo & Stitch, the footstool in Beauty and the Beast, the carpet from Aladdin, Slinky Dog from Toy Story, and Zero from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. And finally, Disney's newest dog-Bolt!-will be featured. The latest Walt Disney Animation Studios movie is lsated to premiere at the same time as this book.

Disney Dogs has a flip-book section at the tail end of its compact 7' x 7' format. From full-page images to whimsical thumbnails, the book includes conceptual artwork, model sheets, animation, and final frame images of Disney's mangy mutts and cocky canines. Accompanying text features stats on the characters and films. You won't be able to keep your paws off this book!

What a charming book! Cover to cover filled with beautiful artwork, many sketches and "development" pieces as well as the finished characters. What is most amazing after looking through the entire book is how the artists capture all the things best about dogs. Through animation they can represent all the fun, compassion, intelligence and love dogs have in a way that photographs just can't.

Also, I had forgotten how many wonderful Disney dogs there have been over the years, this was a fun walk down memory lane. There's even a little Lady and the Tramp flip book at the back. Cool!

I know of at least 3 people on my list who will be getting this book for Christmas.

This is a great H/C for any Disney movie fan, whether it be a hardcore Disneyite, or the casual fan of Disney animation. Would make a great present for Dog fans too. I ended up having to buy another one, as I gave this one to our Grandson, and a great bargain for a H/C----Dan

Disney's Dogs is a collection of rough sketches, finished art, and random illustrations from Disney animated movies and shorts. Ranging from the earliest art of Pluto to Disney's upcoming movie Bolt!, the book covers both the traditional dogs and many of the "dog-like" characters from other movies --Stitch from "Lilo & Stitch," the footstool in "Beauty and the Beast," the carpet from "Aladdin," Slinky Dog from "Toy Story," and Zero from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. The movies focused on dogs are well-represented (101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, The Fox and the Hound, and Oliver & Company) as are the sidekick dogs from Cinderella, Peter Pan, The Great Mouse Detective, and others. There are two small flipbook sections in the back: Lady and Tramp eating that
single string of pasta, and Nana from Peter Pan slipping on a toy wagon. This is a small-sized book, but is completely packed with illustrations any Disney fan or animation fan will enjoy.
