Carl Barks, the good duck man, November 16, 2010
This review is from: Walt Disney's Donald and Daisy (Gladstone Comic Album Series No. 12) (Paperback)
Serious collectors of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comics rejoiced when Gladstone Comics began reprinting vintage Carl Barks stories in the late 1980's in both comic form, and in the large softcover graphic novels like this one. Barks created some of the best characters in the Duck world we know today, including Uncle Scrooge, Gyro Gearloose, Gladstone Gander and many more. I read the Whitman and Gold Key reprints in the 1970's and loved them. In this book the publisher gathered some stories that feature both Donald and Daisy Duck.
1) "Donald Ducks Worst Nightmare" a 10 pager reprinted from Dell Comics Walt Disney Comics & Stories (WDC&S) #101 from February 1949. It is the fantastic story where the doctor instructs Donald to crochet doilies as a cure for his nightmares. When Daisy finds out and wants to tell the girls it is a bigger nightmare. Art & script by Carl Barks.
2) "Wild About Flowers" 10 page story first printed in Dell Comics WDC&S issue #117, of June 1950. The memorable Wildflower Club picnic story with Gladstone Gander and Donald competing for the attention of Daisy in the flower hunt at a town picnic. Art & script by Carl Barks,
3) "Dodging Miss Daisy" first appeared in Dell Comics WDC&S #213, of June 1958. A 10 pager where Daisy and the nephews are searching for Donald with the Junior Woodchucks official bloodhound to make him do Spring cleaning. Art & script by Carl Barks.
4) "TV Babysitter" first printed in Four Color Comics one shot Daisy Duck's Diary #1055 of November 1959. Drawn by Barks, script by Vic Lockman. Donald uses a closed circuit TV to babysit while he bowls.
5) "The Beauty Business" from Gold Key Comics WDC&S #308 of May 1966. Donald runs a beauty parlor. Art & script by Carl Barks
Five fun stories reproduced from the original art and recolored, in a really nice collectible 11" tall format, with archival paper, and spectacular colors.

Very Enjoyable; Daisy as "Second Banana", April 10, 2006
This review is from: Walt Disney's Donald and Daisy (Gladstone Comic Album Series No. 12) (Paperback)
This is not what you call a Strong side of Daisy, so don't buy this if you expect to see Daisy as a strong Character, as she is in QUACK PACK.
Don't get me wrong, these five stories are very enjoyable, they are , however, vehicles for Donald, Gladstone Gander, and Donald in one of his many "Master's of ..." roles, and in this case, he is a Master of the work in a Beauty Salon.
The Editorial piece at the start of the Comic will tell you all you need to know about this collection.
If you want Daisy as a Strong force, it's really only in the 70's that Daisy starts to become a Force unto herself, and also in the British DISNEY productions.
Also, the animated works show Daisy as a Strong character, but it is still as a foil for Donald, and other Forces in the Duck Universe.
But, I definitely enjoyed this collection, since it highlights Barks again, if if one of the pieces is not written by Barks, but his craft brings enjoyment to all things Duck-ish, and its well worth the money to buy.
