I've given this album 5 stars if nothing more than to possibly encourage some folks to take a closer look. As one reviewer here says, you need to be aware that not all the songs (or even the majority) are by the original artists. There are a lot of covers here, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Some of the covered tracks are a refreshing look at old standards you've heard so many times (or probably have already) that anyone who enjoys Disney music should have in their collection. Indeed, there are some tracks here I've found no where else (and I have quite an extensive Disney collection, with over 20 albums of "just" collections, not to mention individual movie and themed albums). Out of this three CD set I found 22 tracks I needed to have in my collection.

But that, alas, is also the drawback here. There are many many tracks that most people who enjoy Disney already have, which means you will be paying a hefty ($30) price for what amounts to one CD. And I can't even recommend this to newbees who would like to get a good "overview" of Disney without buying a whole lot of CDs -- for that there are two great options (unfortunately, both a touch hard to come by -- Classic Disney: 60 Years of Musical Magic is an import that has more of a contemporary feel, despite the title, but the granddaddy of them all is The Music Of Disney - A Legacy in Song, no longer in print but available from Amazon in used and new sections).

For those with lots of Disney music already I still think you should examine the tracks carefully here and compare it to your own collection and decide if it's worth adding. For me it was (but then I'm a Disneyholic who moved across country to be near Disney World :>)

I was really hoping it would have the original songs from the movies by the characters who sang them IN the movies. However, a lot of them are from the artists who performed them after the fact or who wrote them. Kind of a bummer. It wasn't all of them, but a lot of them. Still pretty good though.

I am a HUGE Disney fan. This set of Disney's Greatest Hits is outstanding. I reccomend these CD's for all Disney fans. This 5 CD set has every song that you can remember and is recognizable to young and old. The greatest help I found before buying this collection was the complete song listing on the Amazon product page.
