Gameplay
Players take on the role of Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad or Taylor or can customize their own Wildcat, using a variety of outfits, shoes and hairstyles. From there you hit the dance floor using the bundled dance mat as you groove and grind to your favorite "High School Musical" hits. In addition, the game features various multiplayer modes, including competitive and cooperative play. In competitive mode, users can earn power-ups to affect other players' performances, while in cooperative mode players need to dance simultaneously and in sync to earn high scores. Fans can follow along to choreography from the stars and complete songs to earn points and unlock new songs, clothing and characters.

The game is OK. But I was REALLY disappointed that the HSM cast is not actually singing these songs - they use some knock-off singers that sounds VERY karaoke. I don't know why they just couldn't have used the music from the CD. Other than that, the graphics are OK and it is decently fun. I didn't (and probably wouldn't have ever) paid full price for it.

An extra star for only costing $10 including dance pad!

Simple, limited, fun. Great for kids. Daughers age 5 & 12 both enjoyed it. Repative sure. However, not annoyingly so (yet anyway).

Even if one only plays it a short time, it's only $10 and can be resold.

I purchased this item for my daughter's 9th birthday. It was apparently easy to set up because she and my 11 year old son set it up themselves. She's had a good time making her character (and one for everyone in the family), but more importantly, she's had a great time playing the game. I've played it too and find it pretty fun. My only complaint is that it is kind of easy to get "off mat", which led to frustration for my daughter until she figured out what was happening (she'd be aiming for, say, the step behind her, but would actually be stepping on the space behind and to the right, so her "hit" wouldn't count). Once we figured that out, though, we can remedy it pretty quickly during gameplay. My 11 year old son likes it too (but he wouldn't admit it to anyone!). It is a good game for getting some exercise, too.
