Disney's Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters: Including Characters from Your Favorite Disney Pixar Films

I bought this Encyclopedia of Animated Characters after flipping through it in a store and laughing at some of the amusing entries. Each page includes really nice pictures of the animated characters and information about the characters and their co-stars, including lots of fun and interesting trivia. I thought I knew a lot of Disney trivia, but I learned so much more while enjoying the book. It's suitable for children, and there's also enough interesting information in there for adults to enjoy too.

My 4 year old daughter loves Disney. We purchased this book for her on one of our trips to Walt Disney World. She will sit for hours just flipping through and naming off all of the characters. The pictures are large, colorful, and each character gets a full page! As one reveiwer said earlier there are better Disney encyclopedias out there but this one is perfect for kids. There is a reason this book is titled "Junior". It is made for children!

I love the fact this book has all the characters. The descriptions are short and very informative. Great for children and adults who are craaaaazy about anything Disney.

There's nothing wrong with this book except that there's a far better and very much bigger and more comprehensive one available - also published by Disney: The Encyclopedia of Walt Disney's Animated Characters, by John Grant. There you'll find far more information at every level, and the text is perfectly well suited to kids as well as adults. The only advantage this newer book has is that it's more up-to-date, containing info on the Pixar characters as well (the most recent edition of the Grant book is 1998), but hopefully Disney will get around soon to issuing a new version of the "senior" text. In every other respect, why ask your kids to accept second best?

Bought this book on a tip from a WDW info site, and used it for collecting autographs on my Daughter's first trip. The characters were so excited to see their pictures and names in her book when she went to have them sign it, and I feel like they all interacted with her a bit more than usual because of it!

I do wish that it had not left out certain characters, like Chip and Dale. There were a few other omissions that had us scratching our heads, but overall, it was a great buy.

NOTE: If you plan to use it as an autograph book int he parks, as we did, take it to a local copy shop and have it rebound with a spiral spine, so that you can easily fold it back onto itself to give the characters a nice flat place to sign. Our local shop said that the hard cover was too thick, so I just did color copies of the front and back cover, and had them laminate and include those.

On a recommendation, we purchased this book for my 4 yr old daughter to use as an autograph book for our recent Disneyland vacation. It was an absolute hit with both her and the cast members we encountered at the parks. Each charachter had their own pages to sign. And for those that didn't, such as Tinkerbell's fairy friends, they signed the bottom of Tinkerbell's page. We even had a couple of the "charachter wranglers" come up to us after we were finished to ask us where we had gotten the book so they could recommend it. For my daughter, she now has a keepsake that will last a lifetime, not jut get thrown in the drawer as a regular autograph book would. And because she's been "raised on" Disney, she takes it out and tells herself stories for the charachters she knows. The illustrations are wonderful and bright, and the information particular to the charachter is great. Well worth the price. I plan to attach pictures of her taken with various charachters that signed the book to inside both the front and back covers, as well as the blank fly pages. Kind of like a scrapbook I guess. While there is now a paperback version available of this book in stores, I'm glad I found the hardcover version as I think it will hold up better over time.

This book was hard to find but well worth it. We used it as an autograph book for our trip to Walt Disney World. My children enjoyed using it when they asked the characters for their autographs. And the characters loved seeing themselves in print and made a big deal out of the book. In my opinion, it was much better than a plain autograph book because now we can find the character (the book is alphabetized) and his/her autograph easily. My daughter who is five "reads" through the book and tells us the names of the characters from their pictures.
