BEST for learning COUNTING,
By enamel_pearl (Rowland Heights, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Disney's Learning Adventures - Winnie the Pooh - 123's (DVD)
I've searched high and low for counting videos, and this by far is the best one. Rules of counting, sequencing, different names of numbers are all tackled. With the repetition, my son quickly picked up what counting is all about. Though he hasn't started talking yet, i'd often catch him playing counting game. He'd line up his toy cars and start pointing at them with counting aloud in his own words. Everytime he sees roo hopping on the things as he counts, he'd hop, too, with lots of giggles. WE love the COUNTING song as well. It's very catchy and would linger in our tongues even days after the movie. This is his favorite song right now that can even calm him down when he's so fuzzy in the car. Get this you'll never be disappointed. I guarantee it.

My son loves it!,
This review is from: Disney's Learning Adventures - Winnie the Pooh - 123's (DVD)
This DVD keeps my 2 year old son's attention from beginning to end. He ask me to watch it every single day. "Mommy, I want Pooh." The only dissapointing matter is that it only goes up to ten. It would have been better if it counted up to twenty.

My 25 month old surprised me the other day, we were playing with his match box cars and he just started counting them 1-10. WOW, I was so amazed I grabed him, gave him a bug hug and said great job. He's been counting everything since then! This is an awsome DVD, interesting, fun AND educational.

My daughter LOVES this DVD. She will pull it out and say "watch counting" and she is only 18 months old. She loves having all the characters and the songs are great especially owl's song. We will be riding in the car and we will sing his song over and over agian.
The repetition is great for learing numbers. And the fact that it gose over basic number rules like; ever number has a name and they are in the same order ever time. This will be a favorite for many years to come :)

Best video yet by Disney. We really love this one. I still catch myself singing Owl's counting song long after the video is off and dd is sound asleep. "Counting, counting, numbers are for counting..."! She has picked up counting fairly quickly, thanks to this teaching aid. Definitely a keeper!

I ordered this DVD from reading some of the reviews on Amazon and thought I would give it a try. It was definately worth it as my 2 1/2 year old daughter loves it! The Winnie The Pooh characters make learning numbers fun. They also sing some catchy songs that she loves. It is nice to know she can watch her favorite characters and learn something too. I do not think you can go wrong with this one!

Thank you Soccer mom, your review sums up my problems with this video perfectly. I wish I'd read it, and only it, before I bought this. I'm reposting it here, because it's exactly my sentiments.
I'm so annoyed, because my 4 year old who could easily count to ten, now often counts in the 'disorder' that Roo was doing when he'd 'forget'. She doesn't understand it isn't correct, she's just memorizing the movie lines. Education sacrificed for entertainment., April 10, 2006 By Soccer mom - See all my reviews The story line is too distracting for children to learn anything. The only children wh would benefit frim this video are children who already know how to count. This video isn't repetative enough teach 2 through 5 year olds how to recognize numbers. The parts when the character "Roo" gets confuses and counts in "disorder" can easily confuse a child just learning how to count and works against parents who count before this video. This video is for entertainment only. It sacrifices learning opportunities for a story line. It will not teach 2 to 5 year old children to recognize numbers and may confuse children who already know how to verbally count. I am very disapointed with this video. You'd think a company as large a Disney would hire someone who knows something about teaching preschoolers as consultants.

My 2 year old loves this DVD, it has been a great learning tool, it took no time at all for him to learn to count. The only downfall is that it only teaches to count to ten.
Even so, i highly recommend this DVD.

I actually got this video from the library and my 2.5 yr old loves it. The counting song is very catchy and my son loves the tigger scene. I like that it isn't so fast paced and flashy. It's a bit more old fashioned in the sense that its not designed for ADD children.
I have to agree with a previous poster that when Roo gets the numbers out of order that confused my son, who was able to count to five without a problem, but then after watching the video started counting out of order! We've been able to correct that but I definitely think it confused him. Overall- I liked the video and I was on Amazon to actually buy it since it was such a hit in our house.
