5.0 out of 5 stars We've read it every night for the past 3 weeks!
My son loves this book. He loves using the rocket magnifier and flies it around until it finds it's resting spot to find the clue. I was pleasantly surprised. He went to the pet store with his cousin and pointed out the great barrier reef to her. It's fun and educational.

3.0 out of 5 stars educational but flimsy "toy" design
This book has good content and my 2- and 3-yr-olds have already learned from it (for example, "this is India" and "this is how you spell Africa"). But my complaint is with the book design: the rocket magnifier is stored inside a clear plastic compartment in the book's cover. My children tore this plastic compartment off the book while trying to figure out how to open...

3.0 out of 5 stars educational but flimsy "toy" design, July 20, 2006
This review is from: Disney's Little Einstein: Mission: Where's June? (Disney's Little Einsteins Mission) (Hardcover)
This book has good content and my 2- and 3-yr-olds have already learned from it (for example, "this is India" and "this is how you spell Africa"). But my complaint is with the book design: the rocket magnifier is stored inside a clear plastic compartment in the book's cover. My children tore this plastic compartment off the book while trying to figure out how to open and close it to get the magnifier out/in. The magnifier is attached by a plastic spiral cord, and it's pretty hard to put the cord back inside the plastic compartment so that the plastic compartment will close properly. I wish the magnifier were attached with a string and I wish it clipped onto the front of the book (like many "activity" books that come with pens or other things attached); I just think that would have been more durable and easy for young preschoolers to handle. That said, my children love LE and are still excited about using the book!

I will note that the publisher states that the book is good for four year olds and up....

That being said, my 2.5 year old son had such a hard time keeping the cord from the rocket out of his way as he flipped pages that he ripped the pages. Frustrating.

For those that purchase the book for younger hands, I recommend cutting Rocket's bungee cord, even if there is a slight risk Rocket could get misplaced.

This is a good book and story, I do not like the little "ship" attached to the book. Very comberson. Still a good story though. My 4 year old loved it.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son adores it.... I am so-so....., January 16, 2007
My son adores the Rocket Ship gimmick. It is really not a big deal. It is just a plastic rocket ship with a magnifier. You use it to find a small letter in each place the Little Einsteins visit. (The letters are visible even without the magnifier.) It is cheesy, but what can I say? My four year old son LOVES it.

One thing that bothers me is that the book lists countries--like France and Russia, but then the Little Einsteins end up in Africa. Excuse me, Africa is a huge continent, not a country. (They mention it is Kenya. But the list at the end of the book says AFRICA.) I grew up thinking that Africa was a country--I don't want my son to think so, too! Basically, I don't like that it mixes countries and continents together.

My three-year old loves the Little Einsteins and he loves this book. Rocket is his favorite, and he has lots of fun using the rocket magnifier to identify the clues. I have been very impressed with how much my son has gotten out of this book.

We received this book and it is an instant hit. So much so we now we have to have a world map stuck up in miss's bedroom! And it has been the catalyst for learning about the countries mentioned! The toy is ok - it does look flimsy but they seem to last well - we have had the colours book for months and no problems depsite my daughter's rough handling. I tend to use it and read around the text quite often. It is a wonderful book that introduces so many concepts. Sit with your child and take the ideas further! I thoroughly recommend this book from age 2 onwards!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Interactive Read, August 10, 2006

This review is from: Disney's Little Einstein: Mission: Where's June? (Disney's Little Einsteins Mission) (Hardcover)
As a mother of three I am always looking for ways to have fun with my kids and at the same time hope they learn something. Little Einsteins is a perfect example of that. I bought this for my 4 year old and he absolutely loves we read it all the time. Even though he knows the answer at the end he always acts like it is a new adventure. My 18 month old loves the show as well so he is interested when we read the book even though it is still above his level. But he does recognize the characters. It does have a cord with the rocket magnifier so I would not put it near a crib or babies due to strangulation risk but overall we are happy with this book and would buy it again.
