5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best 'Little Einsteins'
Unlike some of the "Little Einsteins" books, this one has a story that's easy to follow and its interactive elements blend right into it. As Annie, Quincy and June help Leo search for his magical baton, needed to help melt a late snowstorm so that spring will arrive on time, readers learn what a crocus is and decipher a secret message by writing down the first letter of...

2.0 out of 5 stars Dumb and Dumberer...
My two-year-old son loves the videos of the "Little Einsteins" and although Annie's singing is pretty awful, they're at least entertaining and have nice classical music and art intermingled in the videos. I thought my son would enjoy the books,so I ordered two. I won't be ordering more. I liked the attempt at interactivity, but they need some serious editing. First, they...

Unlike some of the "Little Einsteins" books, this one has a story that's easy to follow and its interactive elements blend right into it. As Annie, Quincy and June help Leo search for his magical baton, needed to help melt a late snowstorm so that spring will arrive on time, readers learn what a crocus is and decipher a secret message by writing down the first letter of 18 pictured objects. There's also a song to sing -- "Springtime Serenade" -- to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

First, they need to pick out a target age level of difficulty and stick to it. If they are going to put in puzzles that require children to sound out words, the words shouldn't contain consonant blends at the beginning of the words. What drove my husband and I craziest about this book was that they had to follow animal tracks and the writer knew nothing about animals or tracks... they called a cartoon dog print a rabbit track, and they even had a rabbit track on the next page...but they called that a deer track. How hard can it be to look it up in a reference. If it's intrinsic to the story, make it real. The sad little story was boring to us.

Bought for my Nephew for Christmas and was really happy with the book- however not so with the seller. My Nephew loves the series and we are super sad that you can't get any of the items from the show other than in bits and pieces.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story, small problem, March 25, 2008

Love the story and my kids adore Little Einsteins books, tv show, and DVDs. I was a little disappointed when, after only about 4 readings, the center pages came out of the staples holding the book together. I would have given it a 5 if that hadn't happened. The boys particularly love the part where they follow the tracks of different animals to try to find Leo's tracks and locate the baton. Different than the tv episode about an eagle taking the baton, this book is very entertaining.

We have almost the whole collection of Little Einsteins books, and this is one of his favorites. It introduces concepts such as identifying animal prints, where maple syrup comes from, and the transition from winter to spring. It has no gimmicks used in other books such as peek-a-boo flaps or magnifying glass, so the story is compelling enough to keep his attention. It also has no relation to any of the TV shows, so there is no conflicting storylines (e.g. Galactic Goodnight is an example of a butchering the story from animation to print).

This item did not work when it was received. Evidently, the battery was already dead. I will be returning it because the recipient already had received another. But I was disappointed that it wasn't it top condition when received.
