Just wanted to clarify for future buyers that this is not the standard Little Mermaid story. It is a bunch of stories featuring the characters. That said, it's a nice book for what it is.

I've been a fan of Ariel's older sisters since the original movie first came out, but there is very little of them out there. I'm always looking for new things including the six of them, and knowing that, when my best friend found this book she just had to get it for me. I loved it from the moment I got it. The writing is obviously meant for a younger age group, but it is still fun to read, and the illustrations are wonderful! The colors are subdued and watery, which is appropriate to a book about the ocean. In addition to having stories and poems about Ariel and her sisters, there is a story that features Scuttle the gull, another one about Flounder, and an interesting story about Sebastian. We even get to hear one version of how Triton became the King of Atlantica. This is an excellent book filled with original stories and art, and I recommend it to every fan of The Little Mermaid.

Usually in a series like this, stories are haphazardly thrown together, using a variety of characters to tell tales not so interesting. Not so in this case. Having both stories and poetry, the tales give more depth and color to Ariel and her sisters not seen in the paperback stories. Ably abetted by beautiful artwork, the stories still carry the theme of living in harmony and understanding the value of working to gether. If there is a problem with the book, it's that it ends too soon. Not just for Ariel fans
