If you want the actual music used in the rides and attractions, buy one of the official WDW albums. These are Disney song covers by a variety of artists. Etta James makes "It's a Small World" meaningful and beautiful, Tim Curry has his tongue planted firmly in cheek in "The Ballad of Davy Crockett," and Take 6's lush accapella harmonies are...

I bought this C.D because I wanted "Music from the Park" not remakes of the true music that is in Walt Disney World. I was very disapointed when I started listening to the songs. If you want the actual music used in the rides and attractions, buy one of the official WDW albums. These are Disney song covers by a variety of artists. Etta James makes "It's a Small World" meaningful and beautiful, Tim Curry has his tongue planted firmly in cheek in "The Ballad of Davy Crockett," and Take 6's lush accapella harmonies are outstanding on "When You Wish Upon a Star." As another reviewer said, David Benoit's "Spectromagic Medley" shimmers like the parade itself. Linda Rondstadt and Olivia Newton-John sing pretty straight-forward versions of familiar tunes, and Brian McKnight's sentimental "Remember the Magic," used in Disney World advertising, might bring a tear to your eye.

A couple of years later I found the true music from the park called "Where magic lives, The official album from Walt Disney World". I bought it at Downtown Disney in Orlando but I'm not sure if it's available other places outside the park. The closest album available for sale here on amazon.com is "Walt Disney World Resort in Florida". It has almost all of the songs my CD has plus a few more. If you love the true music from the park I'd recommend one of these other CD's.

I love Disney music, but you know what, I do not always want to listen to Disney music. This is a great collection of songs that are interpretations of disney songs done in the artists style. TRULY GREAT BACKGROUND MUSIC FOR LIFE.

The first time I heard this CD, I thought, "Goodness, what have they done to that familiar Disney music?" I was shocked!

Then I listened again, and again, and again. I have the CD in my car and I play it over and over. Tim Curry's version of "Davy Crockett," always makes me laugh. The SpectroMagic parade theme makes me cry remembering the beauty of the parade. I can sing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and "It's a Small World."

The first time you hear this CD, you may not really like it. If you play it for the third time, you will love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes Awhile To Sink In, January 18, 2006
This review is from: Disney's Music From The Park (Audio CD)
This album wasn't in my frequent rotation for a long time. In fact, I only recently broke this out after I planned my daughter's first trip to Disney World. Though I question some of the interpretations on here, especially the Pointer Sisters' version of "Yo Ho," I must admit that this album has really captured my ear. Take 6, Barenaked Ladies and Patti Austin give wonderful performances of their respective songs. They are the highlights of a mostly good album. One song stands apart from the rest. Brian McKnight's stirring rendition of "Remember the Magic" is a moving experience. It alone makes this album worthy of purchase.

Overall, this album really is a good purchase. It's perfect for packing your bags for Disney World or just a quiet evening at home. All of these songs are fun, uplifting numbers that will quickly brighten the spark of childhood that all adults have somewhere deep inside of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD with superb Musicians, August 23, 1998
This review is from: Disney's Music From The Park (Audio CD)
Okay, the songs aren't originals, but that's what the CD is about... besides the beautyful originals it's a real good alternative if you listened the originals TOO often, BEFORE some of the songs begin to make you feel boring. I am very satisfied although I must confess: The originals are the originals and can't be beaten!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, It makes me remember the Magic of my last vacation, June 16, 1998

I have really enjoyed this CD. I love hearing my favorite songs from the park over and over. It's the one CD that my kids even enjoy listening to. (Even my 13 year old!) My 10 year old's favorite is the Ballad of Davey Crockett and Haunted Mansion Theme Song. He has them both memorized. We even listened to it this winter when it was snowing outside, to remind us of our summer vacation to WDW, and to give us something to look forward to next summer. It is a must for any Disney Fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great interpretatons in a listenable contemporary style!, April 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Disney's Music From The Park (Audio CD)
Let's keep it short & sweet. This is a fantastic sounding collection of the park tunes. I believe those who discount the recording are not in touch with the intent of the artists. The purpose of the record is to provide an artist's interpretation of a song, not to reproduce it exactly as you remember it. This is a fantastic way for us theme park buffs to keep the magic alive during the times we can't be there to enjoy it first hand, and on that level, it succeeds. Standout cut for me is David Benoit's "Spectromagic Medley"-it shimmers just like the parade! My advice is-enjoy the spirit of the album without being concerned that the artist didn't hit every note exactly like the original.

I truly enjoyed this CD. Great new arrangements of some of the best Parks music ever! To me Barenaked Ladies and Tim Curry are stand outs. I could have done without The Pointer Sisters doing "Yo Ho" but over all it's still a great listen!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth getting!, September 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Disney's Music From The Park (Audio CD)
This CD is defintely not worth buying. The only track worth anything is the Grim Grinning Ghosts. The pirate song was done by the Pointer Sisters & the other songs were equally mangled. I think it's a disaster & would say don't buy it!
