2.0 out of 5 stars Disney Party, November 9, 2003
By
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
I bought this game for my six year old daughters birthday, but what a confusing game! I thought it would kind of be like Mario Party - which is pretty easy to play for little kids. I'm an adult and had a hard time getting the gist of the game. It's not very interactive, you don't get to move along a board - it does it for you. Some of the games are fun, but the explanations on how to play are sometimes vague. Even set on easy the computer players are kind of hard. (For a six year old) I wasn't overly impressed with this game, and after Kindom Hearts, kind of dissapointed that Disney would make such a lame game. In my opinion I wouldn't waste the time or money on this game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Confusing game board play, December 15, 2003
By
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
Being a fan of Mario Party and Shrek Party, I thought Disney's Party would also be enjoyable. Unfortunately, I am irritated that I paid $40 for this thing. The game play is confusing and takes forever to set up and explain, the on-screen text (for the directions) is really hard to read and is extremely verbose.

The mini-games are fun once you figure out how to play them, but game play is lame. You don't get to roll dice and move along a board. Instead, there is a little roulette that determines where you go. You have to play a bingo-style game with items and stars and there are these items, "power notes" and gems to keep track of (I can't even explain it in a way that isn't extremely confusing).

Overly convoluted, confusing, poorly designed and difficult to read - stay away from this and get Mario Party (4 or 5) or Shrek Party.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Too Confusing If You Stick With It - - Persistence Pays, February 15, 2004

... I give it 4 stars for the reasons mentioned further below. It is given 1 less star from perfection by me because 1) AT First, it is not user-friendly & clear-cut AND because overall the minigames (while original, ingenious, challenging, diverse, thought-provoking, engaging, humorous, etc.) are truly on the difficult side, even in Normal Play mode.

Once you comprehend the purpose of the items bought/granted, converting items to power notes, planting items on another's bingo board, winning stars from the mini games to place on bingo board, trading crystals to buy power notes, and MOST IMPORTANTLY USING YOUR POWER NOTES CONSTANTLY DURING MINI GAMES TO ENHANCE YOUR WINNING CAPABILITIES, this game is right on the money. Speaking of money, for the lowered asking price of this game, you cannot go wrong. The sound, color, music and graphics are superb, crisp and pleasing.

My 9 year old son has played this game for four days straight, and continues to enjoy it. He is pretty adept with game play controls and is an above average player, yet he would lose often and was not disappointed or discouraged--just resolved to conquering the particular minigame as you can PRACTICE as much as you want. I, too, have played a couple of full games with him and was not bored; neither was I angered by not winning much. The minigames are engrosing and quite fun; I do not regret buying this game.

Pros: Practice Mode, MiniGame Explanations, Lengthy MiniGames, Enjoyable and Diverse Games; Graphics & Sound are Great

Cons: Not for Under 6-Year Old Crowd Without an Adult; Mini-Games a Little on the Tough Side
