It is given 1 less star from perfection by me because 1) AT First, it is not user-friendly & clear-cut AND because overall the minigames (while original, ingenious, challenging, diverse, thought-provoking, engaging, humorous, etc.) are truly on the difficult side, even in Normal Play mode.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disney Party
I bought this game for my six year old daughters birthday, but what a confusing game! I thought it would kind of be like Mario Party - which is pretty easy to play for little kids. I bought this game for my six year old daughters birthday, but what a confusing game! I thought it would kind of be like Mario Party - which is pretty easy to play for little kids. I'm an adult and had a hard time getting the gist of the game. It's not very interactive, you don't get to move along a board - it does it for you. Some of the games are fun, but the explanations on how to play are sometimes vague. Even set on easy the computer players are kind of hard. (For a six year old) I wasn't overly impressed with this game, and after Kindom Hearts, kind of dissapointed that Disney would make such a lame game. In my opinion I wouldn't waste the time or money on this game.

2.0 out of 5 stars Confusing game board play, December 15, 2003
By
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
Being a fan of Mario Party and Shrek Party, I thought Disney's Party would also be enjoyable. Unfortunately, I am irritated that I paid $40 for this thing. The game play is confusing and takes forever to set up and explain, the on-screen text (for the directions) is really hard to read and is extremely verbose.

The mini-games are fun once you figure out how to play them, but game play is lame. You don't get to roll dice and move along a board. Instead, there is a little roulette that determines where you go. You have to play a bingo-style game with items and stars and there are these items, "power notes" and gems to keep track of (I can't even explain it in a way that isn't extremely confusing).

Overly convoluted, confusing, poorly designed and difficult to read - stay away from this and get Mario Party (4 or 5) or Shrek Party.

Once you comprehend the purpose of the items bought/granted, converting items to power notes, planting items on another's bingo board, winning stars from the mini games to place on bingo board, trading crystals to buy power notes, and MOST IMPORTANTLY USING YOUR POWER NOTES CONSTANTLY DURING MINI GAMES TO ENHANCE YOUR WINNING CAPABILITIES, this game is right on the money. Speaking of money, for the lowered asking price of this game, you cannot go wrong. The sound, color, music and graphics are superb, crisp and pleasing.

My 9 year old son has played this game for four days straight, and continues to enjoy it. He is pretty adept with game play controls and is an above average player, yet he would lose often and was not disappointed or discouraged--just resolved to conquering the particular minigame as you can PRACTICE as much as you want. I, too, have played a couple of full games with him and was not bored; neither was I angered by not winning much. The minigames are engrosing and quite fun; I do not regret buying this game.

Pros: Practice Mode, MiniGame Explanations, Lengthy MiniGames, Enjoyable and Diverse Games; Graphics & Sound are Great

Cons: Not for Under 6-Year Old Crowd Without an Adult; Mini-Games a Little on the Tough Side

4.0 out of 5 stars DUFFED BY DISNEY, November 22, 2003

I was VERY disappointed with this game. I too purchased it for my son, who is 6. With all the options at the store, when I saw DISNEY, whoe specifically markets to children, 10 and under, I purchased this game. What a disappointment! Very confusing, no interaction, overwhelming. There is a lot of work involved prior to play, and once play begins the other players (3 run by the computer) are in the way and distracting. I am very disappointed. I feel DISNEY missed the ball on this one, and I think it's a shame that many parents will make the decision to purchase this item based solely on Disney's reputation with children.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too Confusing!, June 15, 2006

= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
My family loves the Mario Party series and the kids can't get enough Disney. This seemed to be a perfect match.

Unfortunately, it took over 3 hours for us to even begin the game after reading screen after screen of confusing instructions. Once the game started, it was difficult to figure out what was going on.

There are so many layers to this game that don't seem to match up very well. Others have said that this game is great with persistence, but it's very difficult to keep a 4-year-old engaged in a game that us parents don't quite understand yet.

I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone with young children or anyone who wants to pop in a game and start playing.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a great game to play with your kids!!, January 9, 2004

My 5 year old daughter and my 10 year old son love this game. I sat down and played with it one day and have played it every day since. It took a little time for my 5 year old to understand the idea of the bingo card on the board game but once she figured out how to buy items, win stars in the mini game and place block items on other peoples bingo boards it has been a blast. This game is a lot like Mario Party only with the twist of the bingo cards. If you let the game run until after credits you will be rewarded with disney cards, there is no fast way to get to them but the kids enjoy looking through all the characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a Mario Party clone, but could have been improved by it., March 2, 2011
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
Disney's Party is, as stated in the title, not a clone of Mario Party. The minigames have more variety and are more skill based rather than button mashing or chance based, but the AI is cheap and merciless and the game has long unskippable scenes topped off with an insistence on tutorial every time you play. You can skip the tutorial, but still. The controls are good, but I just can't recommend this game. It could have been very good, but falls short. It's simply mediocre. Pass.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disney's "potty", June 1, 2010
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
AArgh!! Clean, colorful graphics cannot conceal how confusing and bizarre this game is. After placing the disc in and getting to the actual game, it was nearly 1/2 hour!!! before the "game" even began; endless, boring text instructions seemed to be all there was. I'm appalled at how awful most Disney games for Gamecube are but this one leads the pack in tedious, endless, vague tutorials. Time to flush this "potty" down.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's fun when you're bored, June 13, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Disney's Party (Video Game)
It's good. It's fun, but it's not great. Mario party is a bit more fun...but if you're planning to get this for a little elementary school kid, it might be hard for them. There's some mini games that have math in them and it's a lot to do with education. The instructions at first are a little hard and the gist is hard to get used to.

The basic point of the game is to win mini games to get stars to fill up a bingo board. You can also use items bought in shops to fill up the board. There are also power notes which give you an upgrade in mini games, which can be bought in shops or you can get trade an item for three.

Overall, it's a fun game when you're bored. Since it's this cheap, I say it's worth getting. If you're ever having friends over, this is a good one to play too.
