3.0 out of 5 stars Fun at first but does get old quickly... September 17, 2013
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii U
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I had expected more from this on the Wii U, hoping for something with the game pad integration, but that was a let down. About the only thing the Wii U version allows for that the others can't is the "TV-less" mode to play on the pad only, or if you're playing two player, avoiding split screen on the TV.

Graphics weren't that stellar either. I have a 240MHz LED 3D TV, a Samsung, that looks just gorgeous. but the output on the screen didn't look as good as the output on the game pad's display. Lots of jagged edges and such on the TV output.

I also had problems randomly with sound just dropping altogether. The only way to get it back was to quit and restart the game.

The game play itself is good, the controls are surprisingly easy, attested to by my 9 year old who normally doesn't like flying games that much, although Sega's Sonic Transformed has grown on him.

The games themselves are easy enough for him though, although a bit simplistic for an adult. And while the settings change the basic gameplay doesn't, so quite a repetitive feeling when playing the game.

You can pick from various characters as you go, but there isn't much difference at all between them, so it's not like suddenly you're getting a faster guy who can win more consistently.

I was frustrated myself only getting second place till I picked up on the trick that you turbo yourself every three seconds or so. Hit the button, count to three, hit it again. Keep doing that the entire time and your time improves.

The voices aren't done too badly.

All in all, it's not worth the price it's at now, being new. If you catch it down the road for $25 or something, and have a child in the house who liked the movie, it would be a worthwhile grab. Hopefully by then there'll be a couple patches to help the sound glitch, and maybe one to improve the graphics a bit.

My 4.5 year old son loves this game. After the first 20 minutes of "training mode" he has mastered the skills. there is no crashing of planes, there is just wholesome fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for kids! January 10, 2014
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii U
I have a 5 year old son who enjoyed the movie, and he loves this game. He is able to fly as his favorite plane characters from the movie in different parts of the game. Another thing he loves about it is that we can play together and help each other out. The graphics and music are good, and the characters say funny things if you happen to "bump" them into objects. If your kid (or you) enjoyed the movie you will probably enjoy the game as well.

My 5 year old grandson really enjoys this game. H e didn't see the movie so I wasn't sure he would like the game. He mastered it and plays it often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good game for kids March 4, 2014

My kids (5 & 3) love playing this game. They can't fly very well, but with practice they will get better. The instructions are spoken to them so they don't have to worry about reading.
