My 2 year old always wants me to read this book to her at bedtime. She is mesmerized by the bright, beautiful colors on each page. The story isn't very long, but that doesn't matter now because she's only 2 years old. She loves the shimmering pink butterflies, bright blue fish and orange leaves. It's really a wonderful book and I'd like to find more like it.

This is a lovely oversized book about a day venture on a river with Pocahontas, Flit and Meeko. The color is vivid and edge to edge - oddly except for the last page. Go figure.

What makes this book stand out is the metallic highlights that have been added. Sure to catch small fries attention.

As a read-aloud it is okay. The plot line is simple and sometimes silly. For example, Meeko falls out of the canoe when waving to some fish, and Flit gets his beak stuck in a sunflower. Because of these events and the fact that not much else happens - they play in some leaves, etc. -- I would suggest this book for the five and under crowd. [Although we ran across it as it as a library book for my first grader.]

Three Stars. [C+]. Okay read-aloud. Great artwork. There are animals to talk about: otters, frogs, turtles, fish, butterflies, etc. The other focus of the book are sensory things: crunchy leaves, flowers that smell. All of which (animals and sensory things) make this a good book for small fry. The book ends with Pocahontas and friends going to sleep, so it would make a good 'Goodnight' story. About 19 pages (depending on how you count).
