5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for kids
My children love this book. It is a huge book, but there are several stories. If you read one chapter/story a day, you'll have read the book in less than 2 weeks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Pablum
Piglet stammers. Pooh mispronounces words. Tigger bounces.

A whole chapter on "Don't talk to Strangers." Another on Owl innoculating the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood against "bumps and weasels." Oh, and isn't school great?

At least we know who's speaking at all times, as every utterance is followed by "[Pooh] said."

The pictures...

The pictures are of that computer-colorful bucket-fill style, glossy but lifeless. In that sense they match the insipid writing.

Yes, I know it's only a children's book, but children's literature needn't be boring for adults. I write this review because my daughter found this book under the bed (where my wife had wisely hidden it) and insisted we read it tonight.

Lately, I've been reading her the original AA Milne stories, which are possessed of a real narrative, good writing, and beautifully minimal illustration. There are more of those old-fashioned "words," and my girl is often lulled to sleep by their mellifluous passage.

But this isn't a review of that book -- it's a disview of this one. Don't buy it. The "Disney" in the title should have been enough to scare me off, but it didn't. You have the benefit of my misfortune. Do not let me have suffered in vain.

4.0 out of 5 stars Scrapbookers will love the scrapbooking story!, September 12, 2006
This review is from: Disney's: Winnie the Pooh Storybook Collection (Disney Storybook Collections) (Hardcover)
Our son (age 2) LOVES this book & asks for it every night! One of the stories is called "Pooh's Scrapbook" which is really fun for scrapbookers. :) Here's an excerpt:

"What if we made a Sunny Day Scrapbook?" said Piglet.

"A book of scraps?" asked Pooh, who was thinking it sounded a little silly, though he didn't want to say so.

"No," said Piglet, "a colorful book, filled with special pictures and words - you know, scraps of memories."

"A memory book! What a clever idea," said Pooh.

My daughter (3 years old) loves this book, we read it to her all the time and she can now tell us the stories herself. She knows which story goes with the pictures in the book and has lots of favorites.
