This review is from: Disparities & Deformations: Our Grotesque [exhibition: Jul. 18, 2004-Jan. 9, 2005] (Hardcover)
This is some of the best writing on contemporary artists. There are many unobvious choices in this Santa Fe International Biennial exhibition. Storr includes graphic novelists Gary Panter and Charles Burns which is nice to see. Besides the introductory essay there is a one-page essay on each artist and one or two pictures of their work. The guest curator, Robert Storr is one of the most perceptive, original and articulate writers of art history. The inclusions are not simply gratuitous grotesque imagery.
