I purchased this medal display case for my husband, who is a Vietnam Veteran. For years, his medals were literally stuffed into a satchel in the back of his closet with ALL of his Vietnam era memorabilia. Like many Veterans of this era, he has struggled with his emotions about the time he served and displaying his medals just wasn't the "right" thing to do for so long. Well, finally after so many years of them being hidden away, I thought it would be beneficial for me to purchase this display case and proudly have them displayed for all to see. When the display case arrived, it was very impressive. I chose the black enameled finish. When I gave the display case with the medals already inside to my husband, he was speechless and very emotional. It now proudly hangs in our living room for all to see and for him to reflect on in a positive way. For me, this was a purchase that was very well worth the cost and a well made item. I highly recommend it.

Overall this case is very nice and I'm happy I purchased it. I have the small size in black and the finish is nice. The clasp on the side is gold and very easy to open, even when the case is hanging on the wall. I purchased this to hold my husband's masonic pins. The interior backing of the case is fabric, but it's fabric tightly stretched against wood, there's no padding in between. I'm not able to poke pins through the interior backing as I hoped. The sample picture shows Military Medal pins in the case. I'm not sure how they would be affixed, because there's no way to put a pin through the back of this case. Perhaps the thought is to permanently attach the pins to the backing, using an adhesive or something. I was hoping for something my husband could take the pins in and out of as needed for meetings. I used the case, but had to rig up a foam and felt backing of my own in order to make it work for my needs. If you're buying this, just be aware there is no padded backing or any way to insert a pin into the back of this.
The included hardware works great and the package arrived in excellent condition. Overall, it's a very nice case, I was just expecting a padded backing to insert pins.

I bought this to hold quite a few ribbons from awards I get in competitions. The cabinet is beautifully made, and quality very good. However, it will only hold a few ribbons or medals: the picture is very accurate. If you only want this to hold a few, I would highly recommend it. If you expect to get more, buy a larger size.
