5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect replacement for 8GB 3G iPhone
Broke my screen being an idiot, and wasn't ready to pay $200 to AT&T for a refurb replacement so I took a shot ordering this LCD screen. YouTube videos are great to guide you along... Ribbon 3 is a little scary to unlatch, but everything turned out great. My screen looks as beautiful as ever, and you cannot tell the LCD was replaced or ever broken! Look into the suction...

3.0 out of 5 stars A workable replacement at a good price, but lower quality than original, November 17, 2009

Like the other reviewers, I dropped my iphone 3g and smashed the glass. Following poorly written directions, I then cracked my still-perfect LCD while taking the phone apart to do my own glass repair. I ordered this replacement, and about a week later it arrived. I installed without any problems. Note that the LCD you will receive does not include the metal bracket that screws to the glass and plastic screen unit -- you will have to peel the old LCD off the bracket, then affix this new one with the adhesive backing that comes on the replacement LCD. This was very easy -- nothing like the tough adhesive that holds the glass face to the plastic screen bracket.

Since putting the phone back together, I have noticed that there is an almost imperceptible, high-pitched whine when the LCD is on. I have noticed that this is louder when the phone is plugged in and charging, and that it varies at different brightnesses. I find that the loudest (unplugged) whine occurs at ~20% brightness. I noticed this whine within the first hour after replacing the LCD, which makes me think that the original LCD from Apple did not have this issue or surely I would have noticed in my obsessive use of the phone since I bought it.

The other issue I have with the replacement is a faint discoloration at both sides of the screen. This also is nearly imperceptible, but I notice a faint yellowing of white backgrounds near the edges of the screen that I never saw before.

Both of these issues are minor and have not interfered with my use of the phone, but I wonder if I would have received a higher-quality replacement for a few more bucks.

Look into the suction cup method for glass removal. I used my car GPS window mount.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy fix for iPhone LCD, May 19, 2010

This review is from: LCD Display Screen for iPhone 3G 8GB/16GB (NON-OEM) (Electronics)
I received the LCD well packed with no instructions and no tools (I did not expect any included). Changing the LCD was quick and easy. As stated by others, the adhesive is not nearly as strong as the one on the glass and it peels off with little effort. The only thing I should mention is that the connector is harder than the original and it took me a couple of tries so set it properly before closing the iPhone back. Not really an issue though.
I have now used this replacement for 2 weeks, played games and checked out graphic without noticing any differences from the OEM LCD. Overall, this is a great fix.

Item arrived well packaged and came with 2 case opener tools for free. LCD works flawlessly for my 3G iphone 16gb. Fixing it myself was the most cost effective way to repair my cracked LCD. It's very easy to replace your own LCD with all the tutorials and videos on the web. Thank you!

I was a bit hesitant first to get this product because I didn't know what it came with. In the end I ended up spending about 43 dollars to fix my iphone lcd screen and glass frame. It was definitely worth the trouble. I didn't really follow the directions that they gave but figured it out on my own. Anyway I would definitely recommend this.

I don't think there is anything wrong with this product, but taking apart your Iphone is just a bad idea. The videos on the computer make it look easy and that the phone just opens right up. Wrong. Once I finally got the phone apart only a robot would be able to connect all the little electrical connections back together in order to install this screen. I would not recommend trying to repair your LCD yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy install No problems, February 24, 2011
This review is from: LCD Display Screen for iPhone 3G 8GB/16GB (NON-OEM) (Electronics)
Got mine from iNexpensive Deal it came with the installation tools .Watched a UTube video a few times . It took me a bit less than 30 minutes to replace the broken one, from taking the first screw out to putting it back in and turning it on. I really tried to be methodical, so it shouldn't take any more time than that barring unforeseen difficulties.
It has been working without any issues for over one month now. Happy I took the chance for the twenty bucks.
