Magic Scratch Fixer,

This product is amazing. I'd read the reviews and recommendations for Displex on PSP forums. Frankly, wasn't sure it would perform. My PSP display was pretty much trashed with scratches from a cell phone rubbing against it and then my lame attempts with a polishing kit, rubbing compound, and automotive polish at removing those scratches. Basically, there were scratches absolutely everywhere. It takes a long long time rubbing, but all the scratches were removed and the screen returned to absolute mirror finish. A couple of tips - a little goes a very long way. Use only one or two drops on an area and rub firmly and for a long time. That tube is probably enough to completely polish a PSP screen 10 or 20 times. A lamp shining on the display can help show where the scratches are while you polish. Do not save the cotton cloth used to do the polishing - they are disposable (the kit contains about 6 squares). If you try to reuse the cloth, it will actually scratch your dispaly from the dried product. Rub until you think your arm is going to fall off, and then keep going. It takes a lot of work. The PSP actually has two layers, a sort of clear topcoat that is pretty thick. Then there is a base of plastic. If the scratch is deep, you'll rub down through the clearcoat. Not to worry, that clearcoat does not affect the view. Lastly, once you've gone through all this trouble, buy either a plastic film screen protector or a case. You don't want to go through all this rubbing again. June 15, 2011 - It's been six years since I wrote this review. I still have that original tube of Displex. I have used this on all kinds of scratches. I use this the most on DVD's. Netflix DVD's tend to have a lot of scratches on them. Instead of wasting my time exchanging a scratched DVD, I try to clean up the scratches first. Out of about 50 skipping DVD's I've tried to clean up, I was able to fix all but 4. The 4 difficult ones had really deep scratches. The only tip for using this on DVD's - rub back and forth across the DVD (radially - between the center hole and the edge of the DVD), not around in a circle. It still takes a lot of work to remove those nicks and scratches. There really isn't anything magic about this product, it is simply an extremely fine polishing compound, that might leave a bit of residue in fine scratches. After all these years, I strongly recommend this product.

Displex,

I really got this to get rid of some scratches on my Sony PSP. It worked wonders. I was worried that it would leave kind of a White residue and ruin the screen, not the case here at all. I tired it on my Mom's glasses, they're like new. I tried it on a CD, it's just fine. You only need one drop. The thing I don't like it that you have to rub it for a bout 2-3 minutes and your fingers get tired. It should be in everyone's house, you never know what will happen

A small statue fell off a shelf above my computer desk and created a very obvious two-inch scratch right in the middle of the LCD display on my new 20-inch iMac G5. After several months of research, including calls to Apple Computer, I finally happened upon Displex here. I ordered it from CoolCyberCats and received the tube in about three days! I used one drop on one of the included small cloth patches and rubbed over the scratch for about four minutes. The scratch is gone! The product worked beautifully! I don't know if it would work on a laptop LCD if it lacks a clear cover layer, but on my desktop machine it was a wonder. Both the product and the supplier exceeded my expectations!

Works on light to medium scratches,

I have used this product for 5 years or more. I have used it to remove scratches on PDA screens (Palm and Sony), cell phone screens (Nokia), and camera LCD screens.
Success requires patience. A small amount is applied, and then rub and rub and rub. Wipe clean and check the scratches. If they're still there, repeat. This product is not going to remove gouges, nothing can do that. It's not going to fix cracks. But if you have light surface scratches, and if you follow the directions, you will be able to successfully remove those scratches. EDIT: Do not use this product on matte finish displays (e.g., Kindle, Nook). These displays have a pebble-grain finish that disperses light. Displex will polish down the pebbles and the screen has a "hot" reflective spot afterwards.

Be Adventurous, Just Not Hopeful,

I couldn't even tell you how I did it, but I scratched the facing on my phone a couple weeks ago, and I'd only had it for about a month. I have a habit of obsessing over the condition of my most prized possessions, so of course, I had to search for a product that could remove the scratch. I came upon this and decided to give it a try.
I think the most intelligent thing you could do when faced with purchasing something you know nothing about is to look at the price. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. For $12 and change, including shipping and handling, I had to see if Displex was worth the hype and though I don't consider it a ripoff, I came out mildly disappointed. The biggest problem with the scratch on my phone (an LG env2) was that it was half on the screen, half on a coated area. Judging from the other reviews, I was going to take my chances and ignore the warnings about polishing in coated areas because the phone just desperately needed a tuneup. Fact is, this product doesn't remove scratches, so to speak. It merely smooths out the surface the scratch is on. My scratch grew into more of a groove than anything else (something I could live with) but it's still more than visible with the naked eye. I'm not going to say it made it worse, but it didn't make it any better. Also, don't by any means use on a coated area. I took my chances and it removed a little of the finish on my phone. Yes, it sucks, but someone has to be the first penguin to jump in the water, right? I tried this on an old phone I don't use anymore, the facing of an iPod, and my current phone. This is the gist of what I've learned: - You're flat out not going to remove deep scratches with this product. Small scratches may seem less visible after several minutes of work, but they won't disappear completely. I know a lot of people have been raving about the product and I wish I could say the same, but maybe I just have higher standards. Or maybe it just didn't do for me what it did for others. But I'll tell you two things I'm sure of: a) I didn't use the product wrong. I followed the directions word-for-word and b) I put the time into it. So it's not like I could've tried harder. For $7, it's worth a try, but just be aware that you get your money's worth. If this was a true miracle product for the dirtiest of scratch jobs, it'd cost a hell of a lot more money.

Perfect for my purposes,
By Stephen Morrison Lewis (New England, USA) - See all my reviews

I will start this review by stating that my 5 star review does not cover all purposes. A month or two ago, my 600 dollar LCD TV screen developed a scratch that was pretty noticeable almost 100% of the time. I wasn't exactly sure how it happened, but it was not covered by warranty and replacing it would cost hundreds of dollars. I looked around for a solution to fix it, and was recommended a couple of products. Eventually, I settled on Displex.
My bottle came by itself, without cotton pads. However, I have several microfiber cloths on hand that I purchased cheap, so I was able to apply it. Don't use it with any cloth you wish to keep, however, as it will dry and potentially scratch items. It took three applications of a couple of drops to turn this highly visible scratch into one which does not interfere with viewing at all. It's still slightly noticeable when the screen's off and I look closely; another application or two might fix this, but I don't really care as long as I can watch movies in beautiful High Definition without a large streak down the middle. This was a fairly deep scratch, so I am unsurprised that one application was not enough for it. While I cannot speak for its effectiveness when used to fix an iPod or cell phone, I would imagine that it does superficial scratches quite well. It may take more than one application, but it worked quite well for my purposes. All in all, I am very happy with the product. It's reasonably priced and effective, and a single tube will go along way. It saved my LCD screen and saved me a lot of money.

My HDTV no longer has a scratch in it!,

I used this product on a Vizio, 42 inch LED HDTV, but I imagine it would work similarly on any HDTV. My wife knocked over a vacuum cleaner, which left a 8 inch scratch in the middle of the screen, which we had had for about 3 weeks! After researching products and possible solutions (you can make your own at home with rubbing alcohol!), I decided I was willing to pay $10 for someone else to do the experimenting, since I didn't want to make my TV worse.
It took 5 minutes to apply this product to a cloth and rub it in. I did not have to rub hard, and the scratch was gone in seconds. It works because the scratch is really a scratch in the anti-glare coating of the tv screen. So, essentially, you rub away the coating where you apply the product. Thus, you do not have a perfect new screen, but the scratch is 98% less visible, and you can really only tell that the glare coating is missing in the formerly scratched place by looking at the TV from various different angles and noticing a slightly different reflection. All in all, I'm 99.5% pleased in the product, and I'm ecstatic that I don't have to look at a scratched screen anymore. I was really bummed when the TV was scratched. Now, if you didn't know where the tv was scratched before, you would not be able to find the damage. It's a LOT better than either a) being sad about your scratched TV, or b) replacing said TV for lots of cash.

15 days ago I found out a 3 inch scratch on my HDTV LCD Sharp Aquos done by the woman that cleans my apartment. Instead of using the TV's cloth, she used a standard cloth and maybe some kind of sharp residue left on it scratched the display. When I first saw it I was so pissed off and thought I would have to replace the whole display.
I was complaining to a friend of mine and she told me to google for some kind of solution and I came to find this product (thank God!). Today I tried it (just arrived!) and after rubbing with the cotton patch for less than two minutes, guess what? No scratch whatsoever, nothing, nada... I can't even find where it was. I am sooooo impressed... and happy of course. Based on my experience I do recommend this product.

While I figured this was too good to be true, it was inexpensive and the previous reviews seemed to be split down the middle, so I thought I'd try it. Not only did it not buff out the fine scratches on my MP3 player, it left a ring on the screen, as if moisture got just under the screen. Really wish there was a product that could help my screen (which accidentally got put in my purse next to a nail file). Only gave one star because the system won't let me give zero stars.
