Please reissue now!,

Many already know that this is a GREAT album. It has been praised already "ad nauseam". It has been out of stock for a considerable time. I think that there is a great demand for the album. So, why take so long to reissue it?

One of the ten best jazz albums I've heard in my life! This is a must have album. I've had my LP since 68'. It's just about worn out. I've been searchig for the CD as it was listed on the side of the LP " V6-8654 Lalo Schifrin Marquis De Sade Verve". If you are looking for a bridge from jazz to the classics or vice versa, this album along with Miles' "Sketches of Spain" will get you there.

I've owned the vinyl of this beautiful/odd album since I was 12 or 13 years old. I played it to death! I've looked around and asked for the CD of this for years, and finally happened upon it by accident. I've bought copies for a number of my friends, who also adore it. It's indescribably wonderful and weird-like having a few cocktails, listening to classical music, and then watching a few old "Avengers" episodes. Why don't they reissue this disc? It obviously has a large "cult" following-That's the true definition of a "cult" item-when you think that you're the only oddball who likes this type of thing-and then discover that a lot of others do, too!

I have been searching for years for a CD release of this jazz classic. Marquis de Sade is a haunting, forever replayable tune. Please re-issue!

That borders on classical music, it's so smooth? This may be the album whose cover you see next to the definition when you look UP the phrase "cool jazz that borders on classical music" in the encyclopedia!
Lalo Schifrin's people here produce such a tuneful, sophisticated and just plain PRETTY sound, it's not legal! The "Playboy After Dark" theme could EASILY be replaced by the manly, but easygoing "The Wig" and you'll love the tune "Troubador". It's probably the most lilting thing on the album! This is music to drive a Ferrari by! One piece seems a little out of place, but nonetheless is a fine example of its type: "Beneath The Weeping Willow Shade", which has vocal accompaniment and a Ian Anderson-ish flute backup. In fact, this whole album is very reminiscent of Jean-Pierre Rampal's "Suite For Flute & Jazz Piano Trio", since the flute figures very prominently in just about every piece. Mix up a good G&T, cuddle up with your "Bond girl" type gf, sit back and drink in the Herman Miller furniture in your living room, and pop this baby into your CD/DVD player....it'll take you right back to the early sixties and the heyday of the buttoned-down minds of Rod Serling, Hugh Hefner, Mort Sahl and Johnny Carson... I guarantee you you will fall in love with this great orchestrated jazz album!

This is an amazing album and was deserving of its reissue. Most people know Lalo Schifrin's work as a film composer, but not as a more classical composer. This jazz album is one of the finest ever produced.

how many more requests do you need to initiate reissue? I will pay almost anything (don't take me literally) for a copy of this 'once in seven generations' album.

Best Schifrin ever !,

My fav Schifrin album (yes Bullit comes 2nd). This is the definitive Jazz meets Baroque music. Very typical 1966 sound. As usual, an all star cast to support the master: Jerome Richardson plays the flute, Grady Tate on drums, Clark Terry, JJ Johnson, Kai Winding, Urbie Green...Give it a try (especially if you already dig Loussier plays Bach albums) and realize that YES an harpsichord can be grooooovy.
This one had been reissued in Japan but apparatnly it's OOP again. Dont wait, grab those last Verve limited edition ones available in Market place. If i had to keep 1 cd in my entire collection, Sade would be the one!!!! Honestly

What luck!,

What luck to have found one of the last remaining Verve CD reissues of this album -- just happened upon it! The original was a favorate of mine in the 60's and I wondered since then why it hadn't become one of the must-have jazz classics as it deserves to be. As with Miles' "Kind of Blue" and "Milestones", it represents an achievement that once done, can't be repeated -- a singular point in the vast space of creativity as Daniel Dennet would say.

My first and still my favorite Schifrin album.,

This album was the first Lalo Schifrin album I ever purchased. As a teenager, I never became a "fan" but this album changed that. Even with twenty some odd (some very odd) Schifrin albums in my collection, this is still my favorite. I would be tempted to give my right arm for the CD version (my vinyl is wearing out) if it hadn't been amputated two years ago.
