Just wanted to add a note to the reviewer before me that Biscuits For Breakfast was NOT Fink's first release...Fresh Produce was his first. The aforementioned second release, Biscuits For Breakfast, and this most recent, Distance And Time, are polar shifts from the first. Continuing where he left off with Biscuits, this album is wholly a stronger effort with stronger lyrics and in my opinion, slightly cleaner production. For any new listeners who are not familiar, Fink falls somewhere between the voice and lyrics of Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing) minus the experimentation (which was left on the experimental though simultaneously safe Fresh Produce), crossed with Jose Gonzalez after having received a shot of backbone. Definitely worth checking out. Great album. Trouble's What You're In, This Is The Thing, & So Many Roads are the three stand-outs on this very solid album. Make It Good, a song which made a reworked appearance on Bonobo's most recent release Days To Come, may suffer if you've heard the latter first.

Fink - Distance And Time,
This review is from: Distance and Time (Audio CD)
Some more downtempo folk on _Distance and Time_ as Fink continues to explore his more acoustic side. These tracks have a delicacy to them, as evidenced by the subtle strings and guitar strumming of "Trouble's What You're In" or the softly self-abasing "If Only." A solid drum line grounds the hunger-inducing "Blueberry Pancakes," allowing room for the guitars to build, while the repetition on "Under the Same Stars" doesn't build as much as it peters out. The lyrics here are certainly above par (where else can you sing a longing ode to a "Little Blue Mailbox"?), but the album as a whole doesn't quite manage to distinguish itself.

Sublime,

I simply cannot get enough of Fink. Every person I play him for, loves him. Why is he not huge? I will keep doing my part and playing him for people, around the clock.Blueberry Pancakes, If Only and Move on Me are my personal favorites. Sad, beautiful, romantic, minimal and unique. Lovely for a dinner party or a somber night at home! Keep going man, you are incredible.
