5.0 out of 5 stars A Marvelous Eye, September 11, 2006
This review is from: Distant Early Warning (Perfect Paperback)
Whether capturing the peace of a Zen garden or gazing up through the hole punched in his house by a meterorite, the poet has me tasting the very small and the infinitely large. There's great humor ("The Bat" is a wonderful set-to of a yuppster household up-ended and all but evacuated by a flying mouse) and great irony ("Scientists Now Believe"), much of it flowing from Rad Smith's knowledge that his time on earth was fast coming to an end. The poems look like his attempt to savor it all for eternity; they also give us the chance to do so under less imminent conditions.
