Distant Water - better than The Perfect Storm,
By A Customer
This review is from: Distant Water (Mass Market Paperback)
Distant Water, by the author of Beautiful Swimmers, is, IMHO a better written and more complete picture of the lives and hazards faced by deep water fisherman. While The Perfect Storm was exhilerating, it concentrated on one event.Distant Water is a fuller, more well-rounded picture of the everyday hazards faced by the people who feed us, doing one of the most dangerous jobs available in America.

This review is from: Distant Water (Mass Market Paperback)
It is a very good book, but not as good as Beautiful Swimmers, or The Perfect Storm. Warner is not as clueless as Sebastian Junger, but also not as good a writer. Junger is much more likely to be wrong on a technical point.
