3.0 out of 5 stars Okay details, July 20, 2005
This review is from: Distinctive Details (Threads On) (Paperback)
I'm going to keep this book, but I was initially disappointed by the dated look of the examples. Even though it was printed in 1995 it looks as if the styles are more likely culled from Threads articles from the decade before... making them something like twenty years old. But the techniques are sound, as with all Taunton books. I am especially intrigued by an article on felted fabric using a double needle stitch to create an aran-look sweater.

5.0 out of 5 stars Distinctive Details, March 1, 2008
This review is from: Distinctive Details (Threads On) (Paperback)
A bargain, because it's not new, and it's very handy to have the techniques (from Threads Magazines) all organized in one book. The instructions and techniques are great. Machine embroidery, self-fabric embellishment, beading, heirloom sewing, and many, many more. The models and shoulder pads are definitely not current, but that doesn't bother me. If it bothers you, you may want to look for a new book with similar techniques.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't you dare bother!, August 23, 2004
This review is from: Distinctive Details (Threads On) (Paperback)
this is as interesting as flipping through the magazine. i have owned it for years and never look at it. it is only a compilation of old articles that appeared in threads - some useless, some helpful. there is no organization to it whatsoever. don't bother!
