The third in the One Night trilogy: Livy finds herself caught between the rapture of an all-consuming passion—and a deadly obsession that could destroy the lovers. Read about author Jodi Ellen Malpas

Book Description

Aly Chase has worked for Paul Pierce for years, loving him from afar. He is handsome, rich, and the powerful CEO of Pierce Homes. Just when Aly has decided her love for him is futile and vows to move on, Paul begins to give Aly the attention she had always desired, forcing her to feel confused by his actions.
Then there's Aly’s best friend, Ethan Baker. He's sweet, handsome and charming. He is also in love with her. He's accepted that Aly and he will only be friends, until one day Aly realizes that her feelings towards Ethan are way more.
Aly is caught in between the man she’s loved for so long and the man that has always been there for her. As her feelings are pulled and tugged in both directions, she must make a choice before her distorted life loses both of them.
Who will end up winning Aly's heart?

2.0 out of 5 stars Ehhh... May 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I dont understand all the rave reviews but to each their own.
Aly is the worst kind of heroine weak and undecided for most of the book. It's utterly ridiculous! The characters are supposed to be late 20s early 30s but they act like high schoolers. Everyone is always sooooo worried about poor weak Aly. Uggghhh it goes on and on and on...do I love him or do I love him more. What disgusting thing Paul did should've been enough for Aly to walk away but no we gotta drag it out. And the dialogue between characters is so forced and choppy. This book is just not for me I guess. I'm not a huge fan of love triangles but I have read some and this is not one of the better ones. The book is also overly descriptive and scenes are unnecessarily dragged out. Too much stuff happens in a short time i felt no connection with any of the characters.
I give this 2 stars because I did really enjoy the epilogue and excerpt from the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut!!!! May 20, 2013

3.5 stars
I always like to read books from new authors. Authors we have no clue about and that there has been no hype about. DISTORTED by Laura Dunaway is one such book and author.
I went into this book blind. I like not having any expectations and reading without a preconceived opinion.
Let me say that for a debut novel, this is pretty solid. There are definitely things Laura can work on for her next book but for a first book and putting herself out there, she has done a good job.
The story line itself is was good. I enjoyed the philanthropic aspect to it as it gave Distorted sincerity and warmth. This aspect was almost like a sub story that made you cheer for the underdog. You definitely wanted Mr. Halliday to come around. The plot itself was well formulated and logical.
Let's get right to the book boys, Paul and Ethan. Both have fabulous qualities that make you swoon. One is well versed in a high profile lifestyle filled with money, power and deceptive people. You can never be sure if you're coming or going with him. The other is down to earth, unsuspecting in his attractiveness, kind and loyal to a fault.
The ladies of Distorted--- well the antagonist, Casey is a right bitch and you so easily hate her character and have known one or two of her types in your lifetime. She is a surface beauty, conniving, dishonest and a full on bitch.
The protagonist, Aly's heart is pulled in two directions. Her heart knows whom she wants but there are things that keep her in love limbo. Aly has a keen sense for business. She is passionate about what she believes.
Being this is Laura Dunaway's debut novel, she is definitely finding her own niche and vibe to her writing style. Things that didn't make Distorted a 5 star read were, there was some repetition in descriptions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for book 2 July 12, 2013
Format:Paperback
I absolutely enjoyed this story,. Aly a beautiful, hardworking women who works for Paul has been in love with him for years but never acted on those feelings but she also has feelings other than friendship for Ethan. I am torn between who Aly should be with. Paul a handsome as hell, rich CEO of Pierce Homes a company that does so much good for the community but has a girlfriend or Ethan a sexy, sweet, loving best friend, who has been there for Aly as long as she can remember, he loves her more than anyone in the world. I thought the story was well written kept me wondering what would happen and the characters great, I couldn't put it down once I started reading it, I just needed to know what happened! Can't wait for book two.

Distorted review
Aly Chase is the assistant to CEO Paul Pierce of Pierce Homes, a community outreach program to help communities in need. Aly has loved Paul from afar, knowing it could never happen, because Paul has a long time girlfriend.
Ethan Barker is Aly's best-friend, who also works at Pierce Homes. Ethan has been Aly's rock, shoulder to cry on, best-friend, and is in love with her.
Aly decides that she needs to move on, and quit pining over a guy she can never have. Ethan is excited about this and thinks he finally has a chance to show Aly that he is the right man for her.
Once Ethan steps up his efforts to win Aly over, then Paul decides he wants Aly too.
Honestly this book just wasn't for me. The writing was fine and I really like the humanitarian aspect, and I loved Ethan, but I could not get on board with the story line. There was a lot of, "I don't notice you till you decide to be with someone else." There was a lot of back and forth, Paul-Ethan-no Paul -no Ethan. Then there is the big "WTH moment" where you are saying, "he did what!!!" I just couldn't understand the reasoning of the characters. Then there was the somewhat stereotypical Boss & the secretary aspect, once again couldn't get on board.
I am sure there are plenty of people that would love this book and the Paul-Aly-Ethan love triangle, and the WTH moment was not expected, but overall this just wasn't the book for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read that will entertain you! May 20, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
I won a copy of this book and I enjoyed the read. The story was well written and the story line, while not the most original, had a twist to keep you engaged. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I will say that while I love the main character there were times that I wanted to throttle her. And then Paul. I wanted to throttle him too! With a great cast of characters that you will love and hate, Distorted will take you on a fun roller coaster ride that you will thoroughly enjoy. Fantastic first book! Looking forward to the next!
