Let me start by saying I've been a Forbidden fan since "Forbidden Evil" was released in 1988. This has to be be without question, the most underrated group of musicians on the planet. I'm shocked at how little respect these guys get from the Heavy Metal World. They are beyond excellent!!!Forbidden released "Twisted Into Form" after "Forbidden Evil", and it cranked out some of the most powerful music the world of Metal had every heard. Those first two releases are epic, and very highly recommended... Now, let's talk about 1997's "Distortion"...... I love it. I think it's just as good as any of the other great Forbidden releases available. Don't be deceived by the lack of reviews on here, this releases holds it's own with any Metal out there today. It's a little different than their previous releases, but it's still some of the best Thrash you can buy. People who say this release is weak, or not nearly as good as their first two, are simply crazy. I think it's brilliant. Being from the Bay Area, you know these guys are on top of it. The production on this is awesome, and the dueling guitars are some of the best I've heard. "Distortion" is a must. This is a masterpiece of Heavy Metal..... I was mislead by others for years before I actually decided to give this a listen.....Don't be like me. I just wish I would have followed my instincts sooner. It's a great release, and Forbidden are one of the best Thrash/Speed Metal bands today. Buy It!!! I give this 4 1/2 stars. "Forbidden Evil", and "Twisted Into Form" both get 5. But in it's own right, "Distortion" is a masterpiece as well. Forbidden Rules!!!

1.st class album,

When I heard "Hypnitized by the Rhythm " I knew they were back, and the rest of the album is a joy - the most under rated metal band ever.

This album clearly shows the new influence of Steve (Drums),

This review is from: Distortion (Audio CD)
For the ones used to the "old Forbidden", this album is different from the previous ones. Since the ex-drum player Paul Bostaph went to Slayer, Forbidden became havier, more distorted, and with lower vocal sounds. The lyrics are not as explicit as they were; moreover, Russ Anderson (vocals) is singing better, with no more "screems" and sometimes, with a voice that reminds Chuck Billy (Testament). The guitar solos are amazingly hard and the riffs are complicated. The new drummer is as good as the old one, but in my opinion, Steve Jacobs has more freedom to create now.
