Book Description

Kill him and move on..

Shell is paid to kill. Even so, he has a code. No women. No children. And those on the wrong end of his violence must be guilty of some great sin. But killing Roger Coke, a brutal gun and drug trafficker, is a complicated endeavor. Especially because Coke’s beautiful girlfriend is the only innocent in a room full of killers. Leaving Shell with a difficult choice: kill Roger Coke, or save a beautiful woman and risk Coke coming back at him. Of course, you know the choice Shell makes. Question is, will he live to regret it?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant From Start to Finish! January 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
"Distracted" is a smooth, sleek, brilliant novella from start to finish. It is truly a hard boiled thriller at its best. Descriptive, involved, and poignant, the twists and turns along the way makes for one thrilling ride. Mr. Duck writing is authentic, and the world he creates is so vivid, you feel as if you can reach out and touch it. The everyday is delivered with such clarity, as a reader, you feel you are walking right along side `Shell' as he travels through the under world of a killer-for-hire. Tantalizing, "Distracted" is chocked full of passages that bring a unique and on-the-edge-of-your-seat momentum that doesn't let you go even after the last line is read. A delightful read, a brilliant read, fans of this genre and ones who never tempted the waters will be eager for the next installment in the life of Shell. Phillip Thomas Duck has created a true masterpiece with this one. Bravo, Mr. Duck. Bravo! I eagerly await the next chapters in the life of `Shell'.

5.0 out of 5 stars THOUGHT-PROVOKING THRILLER April 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hard men with hard lives making hard choices and yet, the element of humanness oozes and seeps out throughout all the hardness. It is what Phillip Thomas Duck does so well - the ability to blend the elements of human and horror in such honesty. Perhaps that is what makes DISTRACTED a real "thriller." More often a reader of softer genres, a moment or two of cognitive restructuring was all it took to put me on the roller coaster and not let go until I was done. The writing is brilliant; Mr. Duck chooses his words with artistry and cleverness. DISTRACTED is a quick ride that you can taste for a long time afterwards...thought-provoking in a societal philosophical way, if you let it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible May 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book was poorly written, almost as if a 5th grader decided to write a novel. The plot was lacking, and the protagonist was nothing but a violent killer who chanted "5 girls relying on me....4 girls...3 girls...".

And the love story was pathetic. Some guy gets obsessed over a single stripper mother, and loses his "edge". All in all, don't waste your time!!
