A MAN AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A DOG ON TWO LEGS,
By Ozzie (Brugge, Flanders) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Disturbing the Peace (Audio CD)
The second album by this Californian jump-blues band is a typical set of a humorous mixture of blues, R&B and rock'n'roll. Don't expect belly-laughs though, the humour in their original tunes is rather satirical in style. Besides, they're not jokers, these guys can really play ! The average listener may not need more than one album by this band, but this CD is as good as any they have released on the Alligator-label. Dedicated fans will definitely not want to miss out on this one !

Can't believe that there are only a few other reviews as of my writing this. These guys not only write great lyrics (they have fun in a Fats-Waller-as- -sunglass-wearing-hipster-blues-dude way), they rock out! Charlie and Rick have enormous chops. These guys are the real deal.Download I ain't lyin and listen to the hair sizzling solos and then buy the whole album. Highly recommended.

this swinging, west coast blues playing, jump blues playing band is a fun cd to listen to. estrin's vocals sometimes take a listen or two to really appreciate them. charlie batty is superb on the guitar, making it jam in all sorts of fashions. groove on it.
