Dittersdorf, a contemporary of Mozart, started out by composing 9 Italian language comic operas of which this is one. Later on he composed German language Singspiels for which he is primarily known. This opera has very accessible but simple music. It receives a "pleasant" performance from its cast of 4 and chamber orchestra. However it is fairly expensive and there are so many great operas now available on video that, unless you are a collector like me, spend your money elswhere!
