5.0 out of 5 stars AN ABSOLUTE GEM
This has become one of my favorite albums. Miss Kaye is a brilliant, exuberant stage performer with a glorious voice that ranges from Merman-esque belt to opera-house legit with nary a false note, and this CD perfectly captures her vivacious presence. 2.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
After her brilliant "Where Oh Where" disc, the best disc of Broadway songs since 1959's B. Cook Rodgers & Hart Album, Judy sings to overblown arrangements of great songs. The nightclubby orchestrations minimize the power of each song. None of her great trills, deep emotions and ubridled joy displayed on the "Where Oh Where' album are in evidence here...

This has become one of my favorite albums. Miss Kaye is a brilliant, exuberant stage performer with a glorious voice that ranges from Merman-esque belt to opera-house legit with nary a false note, and this CD perfectly captures her vivacious presence. The arrangements are fabulous, and Miss Kaye is flawless, swinging through a big-band "Hostess with the Mostess," cuddling up to a delicious jazz-waltz pairing of "Cockeyed Optimist" and "My Favorite Things," or soaring through a plush and lush "Where Is the Warmth." And those are only the first three cuts! Buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Judy Kaye made me love songs I hated!, October 10, 1998

Diva by Diva is outstanding. It showcases the many vocal qualities of Judy Kaye, which would previously have required buying several cast albums. She puts the warmth into "Where is the Warmth," and "Taking a Chance on Love" is a wonderful romp!

After hearing this disc, I can only say that if I were a Broadway producer looking for a female lead, Judy Kaye would be the first person I would go to. Her voice and way with a song are in the words of Buckaroo Banzai, "Perfect." This is one CD I'm glad I got. Love it! Highly recommend it!

Terrifically enjoyable CD. Especially enjoyed "I Loved You Once in Silence" from Camelot.

The nightclubby orchestrations minimize the power of each song. None of her great trills, deep emotions and ubridled joy displayed on the "Where Oh Where' album are in evidence here. Honoring various Broadway Divas was a great idea. Sad to say it is not up to her best standards.
