Beyonce's New Hit A Mil ... I mean Diva,
By Me, Myself and I (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Diva (MP3 Download)
You know those lame, LEARN A LANGUAGE IN 5 EASY STEPS (!!!) programs, well I thought I'd try that for this review, hope you like it.
Step 1: Take L'il Wayne's terrible, overplayed, incoherent, smash hit A Milli and Change the title to Diva. Step 2: Instead of having a deep male background voice saying A Milli over and over and over have a high-pitched female voice say "I'ma, I'ma Diva" over and over and over again. Step 3: Add high pitched grating violin sound effects. Step 4: Have Beyonce pen pointless, confusing, self-obsessed lyrics; no dount influenced by her new husband. Step 5: Add that special Je ne sais quoi that turns this song from a recipe for disaster into a really good, sassy thumper that you can't get out of your head. And There you have IT! P.S. Well not really, the reason I gave this song 4 stars instead of 5 was because this song has almost no shelf life. I could almost feel it getting old as I heard it for the first time. And since we all know that radio DJ's are going to play this song into oblivion it's going to be REALLY OLD, REALLY SOON! P.S.S. After waiting 2 years buying 2 different versions of B-Day and watching every scrap of footage I could on her ... this is what we're going to get. A good remake of someone else's song? With the best producers, writers and backup in the world, this is the best she could do?

She Can't Rap,
By Michael Kerner "Michael Kerner" (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Diva (MP3 Download)
While Beyonce' has had a lot of hits, there are a lot of songs that she has had on her own, and with Destiny's Child that have been less than a entity for your music collection. Diva is definitely one of those lackluster songs. The third single from her 3rd album I Am Sasha Fierce, really fails to ignite a heart and soul appeal to her singnature style. The song is trying to show that she can rap and be the best of both worlds, like Mary J. Blige or Lil' Kim. While it feels she is trying to bring that side out which she borrowed from her husband, Jay-Z, she misses the beat by a longshot. This song is even lower than Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), and much worse than If I Were A Boy. I hope that the next single from I Am Sasha Fierce feels more like a tiger, than feels timid like a sad pussycat.
