Divas & Devas is Dave Stringer's amazing new album of East Indian bhajans with contemporary arrangements, sung as male-female duets, in Sanskrit, Hindi and Marathi. The album is rich with the romantic and intimate interplay of masculine and feminine, gesturing toward the larger relationship of the human and the divine. The arrangements also echo this dual interplay employing traditional Indian instruments such as tablas, sarangi and santoor, along with Western instruments such as vibes, cello, trumpet, flute, mandolin and lap steel.

beyond words,

I have just had the great good fortune to experience Dave Stringer's Kirtan, live and in person, and it was mind blowing. Oh where that music comes from! And where it leads you the listener/participant is to the depths of the Real. This CD is full of the energy of the Love that infuses all Being. It is a celebration of the joy of Self meeting Self and falling in love with Self. His partners on the CD are so perfectly matched to the songs, to conveying the the energy of each song...each day I listen to the CD, a new favorite emerges. However if I had to chose one, it would be the duet Gunghata, where he pairs with Donna DeLory (former back up for Madonna). I send great gratitude to Dave for allowing himself to be such an amazing instrument of the true spirit of Yoga, of what we all know deep in our Being...of Love.
