Book Description

"Dive into Terror"
"Nick Cutter, the Terrorist's Terrorist"

Novel
by
Randy Cruts
LCDR, USNR (ret)

This prophetic story outlined events that have unfolded and are still unfolding in today’s news concerning the war on global terrorism. Cruts was writing and predicting events dealing with the international players of terrorism long before the news media had decided whether to spell Osama bin Laden’s name with an “O” or a “U.” His second novel, “Controlled Insanity,” warned about the magnitude of attacks America can expect in its future, years before the tragic day of 9-11.

Quotes from Newspaper Reviews:

“A neatly tied-together little thriller ... a nicely woven novel that pounds along like a locomotive.”

-Harry Crumpacker, The Tampa Tribune

“Nick Cutter is a macho Navy SEAL with the power to kill like a Rambo with gills ... an old-fashioned action yarn straight out of the Mickey Spillane school of tough-guy fiction.”

-Mark Hinson, The Tallahassee Democrat

“Cruts shows the kind of promise of the early Clancy. This is an author, and a continuing saga, worth following.”

-Scott Ceier, The Key West Citizen

“Those who like non-stop action will love this book ... frothing, roiling ocean of feints and parries -with knives, guns, and wits.”

-Peggy May, Northwest Florida Daily News

“There’s a new hero on the American literary scene, and his name is Cutter, Nick Cutter ... one part Lloyd Bridges in ‘Sea Hunt,’ one part Harrison Ford in ‘Clear and Present Danger,’ a pinch of James Garner in ‘The Rockford Files,’ and a dash of author Randy Cruts.”

-Mark Bradley, Pensacola News Journal

Synopsis

THE THREAT: The Islamic ibn Allah (ISA), a newly formed terrorist organization is in the process of uniting all terrorist factions worldwide. Global by nature, the ISA's area of operation is currently limited to Europe but plans are in the works to wreak terror internationally. Yasser Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization, Black September, The Islamic-jihad, Abu Nidal's Black June are just some of the more radical groups but the ISA is the most hideous of them all. This new threat has split from Nidal's Black June and other heretic terrorist groups. What makes it scary? They are organized and grow by the hour.

THE ANSWER: Nick Cutter, a lieutenant in the United States Navy with the warfare specialty of SEAL, is recruited by an elite counter-terrorist team, the Terrorist Neutralization/Hostage Extraction Squad (TNHES or Tennis Team). His new mission, eliminate the most important cell of the ISA. This squad is more covert than SEAL Team Six or Delta force; no records of their being exist. No paper or financial trails can lead anyone to the Tennis Team keeping their stealth capabilities intact. Lieutenant Cutter signs on under the conditions that the US Government will maintain complete deniability.

REASON: The Tennis Team abandons all civilized rules of engagement. Cutter and his men MEET TERRORISTS ON THEIR OWN TERMS, NEUTRALIZE ALL ISA MEMBERS ON THE SCENE, AND TAKE NO PRISONERS UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Read August 3, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition
If you think Jack Bauer of the TV show 24 is tough, you haven't been exposed to Nick Cutter. Cutter would have Bauer soiling his pants if he tried to keep up with his pace. Do yourself a favor and buy this story..

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably suspenseful! July 29, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition
Unbelievably suspenseful! It's amazing Dive into Terror has avoided the Hollywood crowd. With the garbage they put out on a daily basis you'd think this novel would have already hit the silver screen. I hope Cruts keeps Nick Cutter out there fighting the bad guys.

The author tells a good story. The tech spec details make sense. Makes me wonder if these events are really fiction. The book is very relevant in todays world. I read it in one sitting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a professional review. August 27, 1999
Format:Paperback
I'm just an average guy ( Army Cooking School Graduate) who likes to read in his spare time. I found "Dive into Terror" a diverting romp through the hellish nightmare of terrorist/anti-terrorist tactics. I haven't yet had occasion to utilize any of its several lessons, but my personal motto is "Be Prepared." I have heard mention (but cannot verify) that this book has been standard reading for strategy toadies at high levels since its discovery. I suppose it has an interest value for that reason alone, but privately suspect it of having additional intrinsic literary merits which I, an average guy, wouldn't dare to approach. I may not know art, but I know what kind of steely determined violence I like. Thank you, A disinterested Army cook who likes to read.

I got a copy of "Dive into Terror" from a friend a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. Lots of action, outrage, and poetic justice. After the embassay bombings and the coverage of Osama Bin Ladin, I pulled it out and read it again. Cruts either has a crystal ball or he's taking work home from the NSA.
The first time I read it I thought the plot was a little far fetched. Upon reflection, and in the light of recent events it seems frighteningly believable - except for the part about the US responding appropriately.
This book should be required reading for the staffs of the secretaries of state and defense.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cutter does what most military guys wish we could do! January 11, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I liked it! This is a fun book about a guy who gets away with doing what most of us old GIs wish we could do. Of course the US military can't sponsor terrorists, but in Dive, Cruts allows a suspension of the rules. Nick Cutter gets permission - or did he - to kick some terrorists butt.
I don't believe it, but I sure enjoyed pretending I was reading a news article instead of fiction.
One reviewer compared it to Sea Hunt; I see John Wayne, not Lloyd Bridges.
Has Cutter retired? How about a another one Cruts?
