Good sea yarn, unless you are a sailor,

This review is from: Diver Down: A Sailing Saga (Kindle Edition)
This is a good casual read for anyone that is not a diver or a sailor. If you are one or both, you will be disappointed. The author spends almost no time whatsoever describing the beautiful things he's seen, or any diving at all, really. Instead the pages are filled with whining about everyday repairs and other difficulties aboard a boat, which will be charming to armchair travelers, but a lot like rehashing yesterday's everyday occurrences to a sailor and therefore quickly became a chore to read. I was hoping for a travel adventure story with some descriptions of beautiful and remote dive locations and the creatures and people that were met there. My scuba students could spin a better yarn after dive 1! This book did do one thing, however, and that is to convince us to keep our sailing local, my husband could imagine too well the intimate descriptions of on-the-sea repairs. Thank you, Arthur, for bashing our beautiful retirement fantasy to oblivion.
