Baird opens a challenging forum to which a reader had better be an initiate or be prepared to scurry for research every 2 pargraphs. This is NOT Druids 101. This book can be an arena for the experienced gladiator to parry facts vs concepts; or for the upcoming questor, one of the most intense lists of 'subjects-to-explore-the-genre' to be had.

Controversy over RB's statements will be resultant, he admits it and lays down the gauntlet. Perspectives and rationals on global dynamics, archaic to modern, as the current text system teaches it, could be overturned if his speculations prove out over the next few decades. This is one book that takes the Long View in both temporal directions, past and future.

On the first intro page at least 4 reference points leap directly into intense, non-linear dialog. Advisably, be pre-cognizant & familiar w/ the labyrinth into which Baird plunges as he critiques the masonry & structural integrity along deep passages.

A stimulating debate waits for those whose arsenal include World Cultural Development & historical powerplays over the known ages. Again, for the still-learning, this book offers a chance to use the info flow as a guide to subject matters which could be of key mind development, whether one comes to the same conclusions as Baird or heatedly not. This could be a next step in awareness for adept Anthro-historians or even well rounded Epigraphers.

Suggested study matter for Baird's "course": Geography; overall and inclusive Humanities/Spirituality; Cultural Isolationism vs Global Diffusion theory; Languages; Geology. Being MENSA or mad may help ;^) An energetically aggressive read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Diverse, April 4, 2004
This review is from: Diverse Druids (Paperback)
Controversial truth seeking and mind gripping I recommend this book to all as a refreshing and exciting history you ought not miss - only requiring an open and inquisitive mind this will provide a challenging reference to human life perspective and could well be the real 'Story of our world'.

Herein lies an author who takes his reader on a labyrinth spanning the globe and back again, throughout millennia of time quoting countless examples of archeological, scientific and linguistic evidence to lead humanity to a common source - namely Druidic or Keltoi. This awesome revelation shows the reader his inextricable links to his fellow man! Mankind traversed the world integrating and re-integrating with itself thus creating the titled diversities.

Showing how ancient man knew of science, astronomy, medicine, language (written and spoken) & psychic phenomena long before modern man laid claim to discovering it. Past cultures where nobles not given any great status by virtue of birth but where their example had merited becoming representative of the ideals and morals of the community & where wasteful killing of all life forms was considered criminal & laws without capital punishment requirement worked effectively.

How spin-doctoring and manipulation of evidence has been prevalent throughout the world for centuries, keeping the proverbial ball of deception rolling to feed the illusion. He exposes the myth of war and atrocities cited in the cause of a 'greater good' and reveals their true intent, a pursuit of greed and power over fellow man, this with many examples from history and in the current state of the world, societies controlled and manipulated through fear.

Encouraging the reader to really 'see' the bigger picture and their place in the illusion - What is it that we fear? Losing that which we have.....then what do we have? This thought process leads to free thought in the reader with the realisation that no-one is really free whilst bound to the material, laying claim to portions of the earth and saying as a nation this is mine, the earth in effect belongs to no man and every man alike. He versus needs against perceived wants. Illuminating the imbalance throughout regarding human rights especially regarding women past and present through countless cultures and eras of human existence. Ancient and modern propaganda with countless provable references to repetitive events in history causing conflict, mistrust and disharmony which cried 'freedom' yet bound humanity!

He shows us the power we allow others over us through organized religion, labelling and clever manipulation of our emotions and perception. These influences never allowing us to realise that the power was in us all along, that no one needs a guide to their own soul and that soul is capable of right thought leading to right action and self guidance to an inner peace and acceptance, for a common world peace could never be achieved without this.....Why?Look at our current situation 'a war on terror' is a contradiction in terms.....each and every human is CAPABLE without predestination of becoming a terrorist so with this premiss there could be food for constant mistrust of and for all fellow men indefinitely, without a common agreement to harm none terror will forever be. {This agreement served ancient communities well!!}

By the same token every human is capable of unconditional love, honour and respect for all (fellow man) which cancels out the former 'truth'. Life being all about mutual agreement, humanity is what humanity creates and all people have the choice to be, therefore we all are responsible for what is.
In my opinion this book is brilliantly written in the sincere hope and belief in a Brotherhood of love, common world values of honour and respect of all to all, harm none meaning no harm is done and he encourages moreover challenges further study and personal research to those who could and should pick up the gauntlet.

Mr. Baird's effort that was required to pen this book can never be fully appreciated ina short paragraph or two. The content within not only opens ones eyes to the history that shapes our global society, but will certainly give cause for reflecting on how to shape the world to come. Mr. Baird apears to have gone far beyond a simple lesson in history by offering the reader social and philosophical implications that must be considered. I have not ready anything to date that offers near the same level of research and insight into mankinds travels both physically and socially. A book that i see myself reading more than a few times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Launchpad to Truth and Wisdom, March 18, 2004
By
This review is from: Diverse Druids (Paperback)
"Diverse Druids" is a wild ride of discovery, critical thinking and a full panorama, of the ancient past to the present and future. Robert Baird does a masterful job of unlocking truths and secrets of the past, and stimulates the imagination by helping the reader understand the amazing capabilities, of past cultures and civilizations.

This book had my search engines smoking, as I constantly plugged in his research and apt speculation in regards to the many myths handed down through the ages. Baird's ability to tie together peoples, places and things from all over the world, has helped me add many "puzzle pieces" to my insatiable truth seeking curiosity. While even most current "historians" and "academics" prefer to stick with safe assumptions and profit making agenda's, Baird strikes out on a bold journey to expose manipulations and inconsistencies through the ages.

Flat earthers, closed minds, and controllers of power, stay away from this book, because it will only serve to foil your plans for humanity, and expose your nefarious secret societies from the shadows into the light of day. With international and universal communications available to all, the truth will prevail. Science and Archeological advancements have given us recent irrefutable facts concerning your deceitful versions of history, and you are now being debunked on almost a daily basis.

I look forward to the future of humanity with renewed vigor, and I await the return of the "right thought = right action" motivations, and the power of spiritual and positive movements. This work has helped instill this ancient and present philosophy, and I highly recommend it to any seekers of equality, compassion and truth.

This book is especially important for our youth and the generations to come, who will be severely tested and challenged to evolve back towards a world of peace, love and harmony for all. Robert Baird may your light and knowledge continue to shine on us all.

Diverse Druids: The Origin of All Religions was not what I was expecting. Though this book has lots of information about Druids and many other historic societies, I was very disappointed with this plodding read. I was overwhelmed with quotes, sightings and information from more then 160 different sources. This book had a definite `conspiracy theory' feel to it and in my opinion, was choppy and disjointed. As a reader, I would have benefited greatly from an index and glossary of some kind.
I did enjoy some of the unique tidbits of information scattered throughout.
I would much rather read from select books which the author has sited and have received more factual information on specific subjects, instead of conjecture and the authors interpretative-moulding of the facts.
This book may appeal to those interested in ancient religious sects and secret societies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mysteries of Mankind Unveiled, May 17, 2004
By
Cheryl Hartwell (North Sutton, New Hampshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Diverse Druids (Paperback)
On the paths of the learned, there are casms of void that remain which are, typically surrenderred to the term and category of "mystery." In Diverse Druids, these gaps are addressed and little remains a "mystery."
Within it's pages, Mr Baird presents solid connections to the archaics and continuity of the ages, eras, cultures and civilizatio, even to the origin of man. The common threads are those familiar to all people, across a wide spectrum of diverse knowledges and established mindsets.
The text provides archaelogical substantiation as well as theological and cultural standards that bind the fragmented gleanings of theory, myth and legend that we all know as the origin of species, to form one cohesive illustration. Anyone who is a passionate enthusiast, dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, our connections to the archaics and the origin of life or those who seek the answers to all that represents the "missing links" will want to discover the wealth of information and subsequent commonalities that Baird has documented in this book.
The world of the "Eire-yann", "Keltoi", the "very tall red-headed giants", uncovered and validated by archaelogical finds cited will resound harmoniously and echo familiar tones of theories known to man regarding the "mighty men of old", the "ogygia-ancient ones" and no doubt remains in the mind of the reader that these are, assuredly, the pre-adamic hom-sapien referred to by mythology, legend, scripture and the memories of the indigenous.
Mr Baird las also addressed the underlying issues involved in the evolution of society and culture of civilization throughout the ages as well as exposed the dynamics of empowerment strategies within it's structure and traditions with a brilliant, sound balance of intellect and rationale, combined with historical validity.
The reader is compelled to the extremeties of knowledge and prompted to the boundary of realization of that which cannot be denied. One may love or hate the content for it's capacity to challenge widely established and accepted convention. Complacency or apathy will not be an option. It may well be that Robert Baird is become, by this independent, conducive line of reasoning and his ability to encompass the common denominators of all that we wonder about as a species, one of the most profound philosophers and theorists of our time. What is very striking and unique in Diverse Druids is the extremely diverse scope of the author. This vantage lends an unusually wide field of correllations. Hence, this book appeals to a greater audience and pertains to a variety of knowledges including archaelogy, ancient and modern histories of the world, theology, theocracy, sociolgy, psychology, linguistics and philosophy, to name a general gamut. The author provides a paradoxial portal of muti-dimensional vision, encompassing the metamorphosis of man, since the beginning of time. As an enthusiast on the paths of learning and discovery, I cannot deny that 'Diverse Druids' has left me to conclude that perhaps there never were any "missing links." Perhaps all the links have been present all the while, but were obscured by a limited pattern of thinking or narrowed by specification of knowledges. The content will stimulate an otherwise habituated and mundane train of thought. Baird entices the reader to the brink of intellect and introspect. Just as the proverbial "smoke" rises from the fires of wisdom, we achieve clarity as it does and a greater truth is realized, so too, this information provides insightful sound wisdom that "clears the air" concerning the "mysteries of the ages."
I recommend Diverse Druids to all who sojourn the greater quest for truth. The circle of life is illuminated by this dimensional spectrum of enlightenment, well grounded in realistic representations. Greater truth of greater substance, unveiled is what radiates from the pages of this monumental read.
Intention is reflected on a constant continuum throughout these chapters, and is represented by the author in references to "ecumenicism", "unity", "living love" and the "oneness" of humanity in relation to the greater universe. Mr Baird quotes Albert Einstein as saying, "The intuitive mind mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." This mindset is the one Diverse Druids is meant for; for people who know exactly how much we do not know and who do remember the gift and all it implies.
Applauding the Greater Quest for Truth and the Greater Truth for Quest.

This review is from: Diverse Druids (Paperback)
Robert Barid's exploration of history's secret connections is brilliant. By integrating hidden and not presented in any other book various facts of sciences, he clearly shows that our ancestors had much deeper understanding of the Reality than most of the modern people. I had a chance to explore many other books by this author available from his page on the World-Mysteries.com and I highly recommend all of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Far from scholarly work, May 20, 2007
This review is from: Diverse Druids (Paperback)
I am in a quandry as to how this book could be rated as highly as it is here. Anyone reviewing this book with no agenda should beable to see this work for what it is, pap.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed "The Druids" by Jean Markale, an authority on pre-christian pagan religions in general and Celtic culture & oral traditions in specific, simply thumbing through "Diverse Druids" made me realize this was the work of an armchair amateur on the subject.

Rife with the author's far fetched and unsupportable speculation, and reaking from redigested information that is basic knowledge to anyone with a cursory knowledge of the Druids, this is far from a scholarly work.

It makes so much sense to think that if we had been allowed to
>retain our pagan heritage the world would have been a better place.
>Institutional religion which is consummately held by wealth and
>misinterpretation has completely distorted and made a mockery of the great
>teachers. "Christianity "does not teach the universal and humane
>teachings of Jesus Christ. The Zionist Jews do not teach the humanity of
>the Kabala . The Nichiren Shoshu Buddhists do not practice the
>spirituality of Buddhism and emphasize instead the gaining of material
>things through chanting. The real purpose of chanting is to focus on the
>objective of enlightenment. All of the magic and power of joined souls
>as in the harmonic convergence can't be realized without the faith in
>universal sharing of chi and aloha and a common interest in improving the
>human condition. This was the message of the teachers. We can't
>make the world a better place by building walls or temples of containment
>but by overcoming the separation of humanity which are established to
>enslave rather than liberate. I pray in our lifetime that we will come
>to the great need of understanding for the human spectrum that we as humans
>share . We are all of the same composition of body and soul. We all
>have fear and love at each end of the spectrum of emotion. We are all
>fixed by our bodily functions in the same way . We are all at various

>points of departure from this plane. We all live and we all die. Many of
>us suffer cruel and unusual lives. Many of us waste from hunger, when we
>can all be fed. Many of us suffer the terrible fate of war. War is now a

>is not an exception but a necessity . Great reading ,and very
>revealing insights into the cultural paradigms which have replaced research

This review is from: Diverse Druids (Paperback)
Many of the other reviews give you a pretty good idea of what you'll get. Robert Baird is prolific, and his style is rather stream of consciousness-like. Perhaps he feels he needs to get all of this information down on paper in a hurry, 'cause "ya never know," but reading his work, this book and others, makes me kind of wish he could either get a really good editor who's got a lot of time to reorganize the material, or simply "slow down" and put things in somewhat more left-brain format on his own.

His take on the "Brotherhoods" is rather even handed and ambivalent...which may cause the more fervent Builder-busters raise their eyebrows, but hey. He may also suggest that a "one world government" may not be such a bad idea...which again, may upset those prone to carry bullhorns and crash political conventicles - but, he suggests that things should be out in the open, and decries any movement towards world government that stiffles individual (and personal) potential.
