5.0 out of 5 stars Divide and Conquer
This CD is by far the best yet for Danni Leigh. Each track completely captures your attention and leaves you wanting more tradional country music to be played on the radio!

3.0 out of 5 stars A different kind of Danni Leigh
If you liked those first two cds by Danni Leigh, you may not necessarily like this one. It does not have the same drive that the other records have. That's why I only give this record 3 stars. However, if you like ballads, this one has them, more than the others. At any rate, her great sensuous voice comes across nicely here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's Country On!, July 10, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Divide & Conquer (Audio CD)

Danni Leigh is one of the most talented (and underrated) singers in Nashville. I have been a HUGE fan for a LONG time. Her voice is so gritty and real, but I have to admit she is sometimes drowned out by the abundant steel guitar on this CD.

The CD kicks off with "He Used to Say That to Me", a warning to the 'new woman' about a man whose intentions are less than true. The upbeat "Somebody Ought to Do Somethin" features some organ woven throughout and Danni adds a twist by using her own name in the song. "A Far Cry From Here" is a great folk song, reminiscent of vintage Joni Mitchell. "Don't Feel Like Cryin'" is probably the most 'radio friendly' song on the CD, some funky mandolin peps it up and it is very upbeat and catchy - Leigh sings 'hey here comes that rainy day again, but hey look at me, don't feel like cryin'.

My personal favorite song is "House of Pain" - it is about a love gone wrong and the lonliness that haunts one of the lovers. The title track of the CD features some really hot guitar and Leigh's voice is velvety. "Last Train to San Antone" is a great 'getting away to Texas' song, a lot like Jill Jack's "Austin". Divide and Conquer is another awesome CD by Danni Leigh - pick it up if you want to hear some real tear-in-your-beer country!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Third Is a Charm, February 16, 2002
This review is from: Divide & Conquer (Audio CD)
Danni's new label Audium released this new album from Danni, DIVIDE AND CONQUER, in November 2001. Its a must have for all fans. This one is equally as good as her debut 29 NIGHTS, and hopefully with this third album, third will prove to be a charm with radio. "Sometimes", the first single, is a catchy, honest delivery from Leigh, and sure to be a hit if country radio embraces it. Third is a charm on this album, because with each album Danni continues to shine and grow as an artist. There are some beautiful moments on songs on this album, like the touching "Far Cry From Here", or the sorrowful "My Last Chance Is Gone". There's still the uptempo songs fans have come to love, such as "Somebody Oughta Do Something", "He Used To Say That To Me", "Divide and Conquer", etc. This is a well rounded album and hopefully this will prove to be a success for Danni. If you enjoyed 29 NIGHTS or A SHOT OF WHISKEY AND A PRAYER, you will love this album. I know I do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Danni's Third Album, March 6, 2004
This review is from: Divide & Conquer (Audio CD)
Danni Leigh's third album is a great set of music from an underrated country singer. Now signed with Audium, she released this album in November 2001. There were three singles: "Sometimes", "House of Pain" and "Last Train To San Antone". The album opens with a great song written by Jim Lauderdale called "He Used To Say That To Me", which sets the album at a nice pace. "My Last Chance Is Gone" has a haunting melody and vocals from Danni. "A Far Cry From Here" is a highlight, a nice introspective, quiet song. The album has a heavy traditional country sound, which has not changed since her debut album. Other highlights include "Don't Feel Like Crying", "Somebody Oughta Do Something" and the title track. Excellent album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Female Dwight Yoakum Does It Again, October 14, 2003
This review is from: Divide & Conquer (Audio CD)
Danni Leigh returns to the world of country roots, with an added touch of rockabilly. Her previous albums were extremely well received in foriegn countries, but the superstar popularity she deserves in the United States has eluded her. Songs include everything from slow love songs to up-tempo shove it in your face cuts, most written by Leigh. If you haven't had the pleasure of spending listening time to the whiskey voiced Leigh, this is a pleasureable beginning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Danni "Conquer's" it All, January 17, 2002
This review is from: Divide & Conquer (Audio CD)
Danni Leigh's latest offering, DIVIDE AND CONQUER, is one of the best country albums I've heard in recent years. Danni returns with an album of new material, her first since she was dropped by Monument (who oddly enough released her album A SHOT OF WHISKEY AND A PRAYER three months after they let her go), now with a new record label, Audium, Danni has created a new album. DIVIDE AND CONQUER is all about Danni, the style is similar to her first two albums, and her voice is as beautiful as ever. I believe "A Far Cry From Here" is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a while, its wonderful. "My Last Chance Is Gone" is another winner, filled with heartbreak and disapointment, Danni conveys all the feelings necessary to express how she is feeling. "Divide and Conquer" is a great song too. In fact, the whole album is wonderful, there is not one bad song on here. I really recommend this cd, especially if you enjoyed her debut 29 NIGHTS, or if you like her brand of country, which if you ask me, is sorely needed on country radio. Great cd!
