More About the Author

I write action thrillers - fast paced and action packed with a plot that will keep you enthralled and intrigued right up until the shocking ending.

If that sounds like your type of book, you're in the right place!

I have also written a more erotic thriller, just as exciting but building to a different type of action :) under the name M.K. McDonald (Voyeur)

If you like this genre of reading, you'll definitely enjoy this book. Complex character development, plenty of action and a few surprises along the way. Some things were a bit outrageous but I loved it and it's great entertainment. This reminded me of the 1980s movie "Boys from Brazil"; the concept of cloning to re-create Hitler's plan for a master race.

Excellent pace of the book; one or two minor grammar errors but they didn't distract from the story. I highly recommend this book and I will look for more from this author.

Good fun!

A thriller from beginning to end, with many twists and turns. I have spent a lot of personal time in the locale, and found the descriptions accurate. Well balanced and a page turner!

I got sick and tired of the language in this book. Author seemed to find a way too get the F word in just about every paragraph. Will not read anymore of this authors work.

Writing was choppy and I actually quit reading about half way through

Divide and Conquer grabbed my attention from the very beginning and continued to deliver non-stop action, intelligent twists and unparalleled conspiracy. Despite some well-placed and clever clues, I was blown away by the shocking "reveal" in the final scene. I was convinced that I had a complete handle on the full scope of the conspiracy driving the story, but it goes deeper. Way deeper.

Sean Fox, a dedicated covert operative, returns to the U.S. from a long stint fighting the Taliban in the mountains of Afghanistan. He's focused on one thing. A permanent beach vacation. He's through fighting, having served the CIA faithfully for years. There's only one problem with his arrival. Sean Fox was killed three months ago by a ruthless Mexican cartel boss just south of the Texas border. Not only does his sudden rebirth confound customs officials and the FBI, his arrival triggers long forgotten alarms deep inside the most secretive intelligence agencies within the U.S. and Russia. What follows is an incredible journey, as Sean struggles to unravel his own mystery, while dodging skilled Spetznaz assassins and brutal Mexican cartel hit men.

Choosing the violent and shady world of Mexican drug cartels serves as a unique and refreshing background for a story based on Cold War conspiracy. All of the players are out of their usual element, with the exception of the drug cartel thugs. The back and forth action between Fox and the cartels is brilliant, culminating in an incredible showdown worthy of a screenplay. The focus gradually shifts from the immediate survival of Sean Fox and his "twin" brother's family, to a Russian conspiracy that rivals anything I have previously read.

This is well written, page-turning escapism which grabs the attention and never lets go. The plot is complex and far fetched but made for good and entertaining reading.

Sean Fox, an ex CIA operative, returns from several years in Afghanistan as an independent contractor looking forward to some well deserved R and R. He is detained at the airport because official records show that he was visciously killed by a Mexican drug cartel 3 months before. Even more surprising, he learns that he is survived by a wife and small son who he has never met.

The son is kidnapped and very quickly Sean is fighting the Mexican cartel to release the son and protect the wife. Not only does he have to deal with the cruel and powerful Mexicans, but his return has triggered actons by intelligence agencies in both the U.S. and Russia. Before long Sean's struggle becomes an international one that will affect the future of the major world powers.

One reviewer pointed out some mistakes in US English usage but they were minor and didn't detract from the impact of the story.

Murray McDonald writes exciting thrillers. I enjoyed Critical Error and look forward to reading Scion.

The characters were a little thin; The action was good (a bit graphic here and there); The plot took a few too many convenient turns; And there were some things left in place solely to keep them in danger - i mean how many people have to find the woman at her house before somebody finally got her the hell out of there? Also, don't know if it was just a Kindle thing, but most every sentence ended with an "!", and lots of typos. I think i'm done with this series for now.

Divide and Conquer by Murray McDonald was a great thriller that never lets up. The storyline flows nicely and is full of action (Like all other books by Murray McDonald.) This book grabs you in the very first chapter and only lets go whenyou have finished reading it. This book is a definite page turner and its hard to put down. If you like Divide and Conquer you would Scion, Critical and the Empires series by Murray McDonald (Even though the Empire series is more for YAits great for anyone.) Overall, a great edge-of-your-seat thriller.
