5.0 out of 5 stars Never too late for change, January 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Divided Roads (Paperback)
A book which you cannot put down!
Ned Mansour succeeds to entertain, and at the same time makes you question again and again the purpose of life, especially if you are caught in the fast lane. A fast- moving novel which depicts the gradual changes in the values and beliefs of a successful businessman who pursued his profession at the expense of his family. The young man in the story is exciting, funny and tragic; with lots of wisdom to offer to both older and younger readers.
It is interesting to note that the royalties from the book go to charitable organizations (including The Hospice Foundation).

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving, Humorous and Real Life, February 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Divided Roads (Paperback)
This is a great read--Divided Roads is a personal, intimate, human, real life story with complex characters in colorful settings that reach out from the page right to the reader's heart. I don't get much time to read fiction and this is one book that a friend recommended that was well worth the time. It's even more amazing that proceeds are going to non-profits. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Dynamic!, June 15, 2007

A good portrayal of a highly intelligent man with many weaknesses, more than he is willing to admit. Pete is a very engaging character! I enjoyed every word, every page in this book. Cold Eyes

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope & Change, May 25, 2002

An old theme of a story that is so beautifully written. The different personalities of the main characters captures you from the first chapter. Was there hope to change aspects of their lives or if they changed their way of thinking would there be hope for their future / relationships ? Maybe hope and change do go hand in hand.
It made me laugh, cry, and reflect upon my own life and relationships. Outstanding dialogue, chain of thought, and sense of humour. It moves the soul.

So many lessons here, it makes you question things like
"who says a person can't change?" Perhaps an illness is leveled with a gift of insight & wisdom? A great read with human nature popping out everywhere. I couldn't wait to get to it at the end of each day. More please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roads in Life, February 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Divided Roads (Paperback)
This book explores the transformation of a successful businessman who is gripped by workaholism and a lack of values. Accidentally, he finds himself on a journey with another that opens his eyes to a greater meaning in life. This character is the "Modern Man in Search of a Soul," and the book invites all of us to examine our lives. It is well worth the read!

I loved Divided Roads. The book will make you stop and evaluate your life, where you are headed. It truly brings to light the phrase that "life is too short". Well done!

Mr. Mansour is a very talented writer. I can't wait for his next book. The fact that he is donating proceeds to charities tells you something about the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressive, April 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Divided Roads (Paperback)
Ned's first book is very impressive. I am not one who reads many books, however, Divided Roads was impossible to put down. You grow to really know the characters with such familiarity due to his insightful descriptions and comparisons. This book puts life into perspective and urges you to treat others with compassion and dignity. I cannot wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Never Too Late..., April 9, 2002

Gary Lucas (Fairfied, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Divided Roads (Paperback)
Divided Roads... a fitting title for a story of life... one bittersweet in its young finality, the other, seemingly bountiful with the trappings of success and ambition, but lost along the way. As the title suggests, life is a series of choices, some controllable, some uncontrollable. Interesting that Rocky, the young man beset with a life-threatening disease, uncontrollable, brings control and meaning not only to his life, but manages to instill perspective to someone, Peter, whose unilaterally controlling behavior, success and ambition have, essentially, remanded him to an uncontrollable way of dealing with family, friends, acquaintances and associates. Fitting that along the road they travel together, Rocky brings and instills the essence of what life should be... self realization and the inescapable meaning of life... understanding and acceptance of individuals, their motivations, relationships and true desires... to be a mature, caring, nurturing, an understanding and empathetic individual devoid of self-need and indulgence, but committed to helping assist others selflessly!

Ned, you did well! Divided Roads is a `must read' for anyone that feels, or suspects, they may have taken the wrong turn along life's Divided Roads. It's not too late to go back, ruminate, and make a turn for the better. The book will surely provide the perspective and motivation to do so.

I look forward to Ned's next installment. Kudos!

Ned Mansour has written a pure story about the intersection of two lives. The main characters, Pete and Rocky, develop beautifully in ways that are sweet, but still ring true. This tale of life change also inspires life change. Thank you Ned.
