Michiel Schwarz is a Dutch independent cultural thinker, innovator, researcher and producer, working from Berkeley, California and Amsterdam, Netherlands. His latest book, with Joost Elffers, is "Sustainism is the New Modernism: A Cultural Manifesto for the Sustainist Era" (see: www.sustainism.com).

Since completing his PhD in the sociology of technology at the University of London, he has worked as a cultural consultant and has advised public organizations in the Netherlands and other European countries.
